Multiculturalism

The term multiculturalism can be given two broad ways of definition. In its literal meaning, multiculturalism refers to a situation where a certain culture of concern happens to be having more than two cultures in it. Certain communities are known to have more than one culture in them. These are multiculturalism communities. Multiculturalism also has a descriptive definition in which the term is defined as a situation of diversity of culture as depicted by a school, institution, organization, or any other place where members of different cultures are able to come together and coexist as a diversified community. The other definition of multiculturalism is called a normative definition. This definition takes multiculturalism as a body of ideologies and policies, which are used to foster institutionalism or diversity. With this definition and sense, multiculturalism incurs to a station where people are free to have individual expressions. This definition of multiculturalism reiterates the differences, which exist between different people in the societies, nations, and communities. Multiculturalism is a vast term, which carries varied and different meanings in itself (Modood 23).

According to Chamoiseau's, "The Solibo Magnificient," multiculturalism is an entity of human interaction and expression. The world today is a multicultural society. There are many communities with varied cultural inclinations. In the natural human setup, culture is a tool of recognition, dominance, and cohesion. The daily way and behavior among members of a certain culture helps to tell the difference between one culture and the other. Multiculturalism has been in the world for so many years. In fact, the generation of human existence came with this facet called multiculturalism. According to the book, "Migration to the North," different entities of human nature in the society have always translated to a multi-cultured society in which respect for one culture is critical. The mannerisms of existence and thoughts are governed by the different connotations contained in a particular culture. The community with varied cultures has often been termed as with multiculturalism since it has the capacity and capability to handle many cultures with no clash or conflict of ideas and believes therein.

Tayeb's, "Migration to the North" treats multiculturalism as a facet of human inheritance. In the expressions articulated in the book "migration to the north," multiculturalism is a relative term, which denotes a body of knowledge and philosophical inclination. When referring to the present day society where many cultures have integrated, consideration is given to a multicultural society. This refers to a society that has advanced and developed in its philosophical exemplification. This means that multiculturalism is treated as a body of honor and retribution, which is supposed to be embraced by the society members of one culture. According to this book, the world today is a simple multicultural society. This is because of the fact that multiculturalism has taken root in almost every corner of the world. The existing cultures that have not embraced and integrated other different cultures are gradually following the same path. In some other cases, these communities or cultures are adopting a second and third culture simply to respond to the call of nature, which embraces a diversity of philosophical thinking.

According to Chamoiseau, multiculturalism facets are first realized with the wording or embrace of a certain wording system, which declares one to belong to a defined culture. People embrace diversity of wording. This leads to multiculturalism. Nonetheless, other people are particularly consistent with their wording to a level that any embrace of another wording system will be declared as complacency. This is how some societies and communities are able to embrace a singleness of culture. Nonetheless, "the blind owl" expresses that multiculturalism has had varied dimensions, and will continue to change the world day by day.

Preservation of cultures varies from one community to another. This is similarly an act of philosophical exemplification. For instance, multiculturalism is embraced as a way of espousing new status of living and coexisting with other people in the society. It is perceived to bring change in the society. People who have advanced to multiculturalism are likely to attract a great attention from those who have not tested the goodness of being in a culture-diversified society. Multiculturalism is a facet, which denotes a great change of human life and perception in the society. This is the philosophical perception of multiculturalism. For instance according to the book, "Season of migration to the North," people existing in different countries are also differing in cultures and traditions. When an individual visits or engages in adapting other people's cultures, he or she is likely to be treated separately by the society. The visit made by the young Sudanese man explores on the varied differences, which exists, between cultures.

An interaction of different cultures often depicts a state of living in a society, which has taken roots out of the philosophical meaning and understanding. For instance, multiculturalism beckons one to attend to another culture and keep the immediate one as a preserve. Engagement in other cultures does not only win the individual the chance to be part of the society that embraces cultural diversity. It also elucidates the leadership and advances the level of feeling within the person.

Multiculturalism is a connotation that will always never die in the society. As denoted by the book, "migration to the north," the social cultures, which exist in the European nations, are not like the ones, which exit in African countries. Culture is a making of the people. In addition, multiculturalism is a making of the society in which one comes from. It is evidently literal to consider a certain culture without having a true meaning of it. Multiculturalism influences an individual. It is interactive and often gradual. For instance, when people learn the culture, they are likely to adapt to it and never let it go. This means that multiculturalism derives itself in the lives of people, through language, meaning, understanding, material things, and philosophical inclinations. Multiculturalism is a facet of living among everyone in the society.

The identity possessed by everyone in the society is related to the multiculturalism nature of that individual. According to Tayeb in his "migration to the north," multiculturalism relays the various features that define a society. For instance, one can be a farmer just because the culture in which he or she was raised practiced farming at length. Nonetheless, this culture cannot be eradicated even within the environment of multiculturalism even if one gets to learn and practice other cultures in the world. This can also be defined from the perspective taken by Chamoiseau in his book, "The Solibo Magnificent." In this case, the writer has expressed multiculturalism as a notion of being positive and ready to accept the nature of the other in the society. In most cases, multiculturalism demands that one becomes indifferent rather than being accommodative. This is when it comes to the virtue of tolerance, which is the basic doing of the society, in which varied cultures have come together as one. In the real life situation, a cosmopolitan view is helpful. Culture is a demand in some communities. People appreciate culture and perceive it like their own making. A cosmopolitan approach will serve to distinguish the best of multiculturalism from a mere and a criticized (Trotman 74).

The custom of multiculturalism is sensible in the world today. When reflected by the story involving, "The Solibo Magnificent," much consideration is given to the technological advancements, which have taken place in the world. For instance, technology is a multicultural phenomenon in the society (Salih 45-85). This is because it denotes a simple and universal way of thinking derived from a given sense of knowledge across the globe. With the capacity to extend and search into knowledge and various disciplines in the life of human beings, it is possible to come to a notion that multiculturalism will one day dominate the world. According to the story "migration to the north," multiculturalism can take several fields within a single human setting. People of varied cultures have learnt the importance of having an uncultured setting but living as a multicultural society. Much is learnt in such a situation. Therefore, multiculturalism endeavors to change the world. It is positive in nature. It does not take sides since it can be rated to the technology, which has taken the world, by a swift.

As replicated by the story, "migration to the north," there are several claims, which can be observed to foster multiculturalism in the world. Culture and cultural groupings are almost natural in every human setting. For instance, the presence of races, ethnicity, nationality, religion, and language difference insinuates the presence of multiculturalism in the world. The commonality situation in such a scenario is that cultures will keep coming and going, but human interaction will always be there. The sense of establishing a certain culture is liberal of the capacity for one to live amidst a set of cultures. As depicted by the story on "migration to the north," multiculturalism is a distinguished…[continue]
