Resolution Of Problems Involving Conflicting Research Paper

The enterprise would be therefore in essence sanctioning the gross mutilation of its moral and ethical guidelines. Every employee, irrespective of their employment rank has a right to fair dismissal. Dismissing employees due to budget cuts is unethical, immoral and irresponsible. This means that it is the moral duty of the firing authority to ensure that the fired employee has a safe landing or a negotiated layoff. Protection of the society from harm/hazardous wastes/effluents is an ethical and moral responsibility of responsible companies/

While defining CRS as the act of conducting the affairs of a given enterprise in a manner that would maintain an equitable and yet workable balance among several claims of numerous directly interested parties comprising of a harmonious balance among the stakeholders such as employees, clients and the general society, Frederick (2006) indicated that there is also the element of the environment and the society as basic tenets of CSR. It is the moral and ethical responsibility of the company to safely dispose the bio-hazardous medical waste material without endangering the life of anyone whether they are known or are complete strangers to the disposing authority.

It is better to serve the interest of a community than that of an individual

A review of this case indicates that it is clash of saving a known individual vs. saving the whole community.

Exploring the options

There are three options. The first one is that the company can fail to fire the employee and then...

...

The forth one is that the company can fail to do any of the above and seek external debt financing in order to continue with its operations. Using the consequantialism theory, the most optimal choice is to fire the employee since it is better to serve the interest of a community than that of an individual. The virtue theory on the other hand indicates that it is best to avoid firing the employee while also preventing death and disease through safe waste disposal procedures. It is the ethical, moral and legal responsibility of the company to ensure that the basic tenets of CSR are safeguarded.
Decide

After reviewing all the facts of the case, I have come to conclude that it is best to fire the worker than expose an entire society to biohazard.

Defense

This decision is backed by consequantialism theory that advises us to adopt the most optimal course of action. In this case the most optimal choice is to fire the employee since it is better to serve the interest of a community than that of an individual

In reviewing the main considerations that define conflict management situations and in making a determination which strategy has a likelihood of being effective the factors to be considered are: Issue Importance Relationship Importance Relative Power It is important to consider the importance of the issue, which has been done and although the conflict is centered around important issues the resolution is not one that lack of resolve creates immediate demand of resolution through force.

The author points out employees will "give in to demands, even unreasonable ones, to avoid disagreement." Finally, some employees choose collaboration to resolve problems. The author asserts that collaboration involves being interested in ensuring that the desires of all team members are met. Employees that implement this type of conflict resolution tend to be solution oriented and the resolution to the conflict often results in a remedy that neither
