Prejudice was a major reason why the media and religious groups portrayed the disease as a "gay" illness when in fact it is as easily spread via heterosexual sex or blood transfusions. Homophobia therefore created a large lag in the empirical research needed to find a cure or vaccine.
Discussion 3

The main cause for the current AIDS crisis is an imbalance of power among the global community. In particular, the wealth disparity between nations has meant that poverty-stricken regions of the globe have less access to education, medication, and prophylactics. Without access to adequate and correct information, people in poor African nations and poor Asian nations have become besieged by the epidemic. Similarly, a lack of medical resources in poor nations has exacerbated the epidemic. Lack of access to preventative measures like condoms is another reason why people in the Third World are more severely affected than people in the First World.

What is particularly bothersome about child abuse is that it occurs in all income, racial, religious, and ethnic groups and in urban and rural communities. Likewise, there is no uniform definition of what constitutes child abuse, making it difficult to ascertain what prevention and treatment methods are

It is recommended that a thorough investigation be made of the issues facing the various types of children entering the facility. Both are needed in order to create the right balance of concern and caring that is required in raising well-adjusted and happy children. Since the mistreatment of a child is a complex problem with a massive amount of causes, an approach to prevention
