Another weakness with Wal-Mart is in the past few years the organization has faced must litigation from employees accusing it of unfair employment activities -- especially from female employees which has given the bad reputation as an employer. The current economic crisis has decreased the disposable income of many individuals and thus has caused many individuals and households to lower their expectations and to shop for bargains, thus Wal-Mart stands to gain in such a situation. The inflation in the economy is on the decline and the economy is on t he brink of deflation thus it may mean that Wal-Mart is able to provide its customers with increased bargains. Many retail organizations are going out of business due to the reduction in disposable incomes. One of the biggest threats to Wal-Mart is Washington D.C. where currently there is a brewing trade between the U.S. And China that could lead to higher prices and tit-for-tat tariff charges that could negatively impact their bottom line. There is also a push to get Wal-Mart employees to unionize which will have a ripple effects all the way through the company, costing more in labor and not getting anything in return for it.
One of the best ways to look at a business is to objectively take a look at the entire operation . This begins by looking at their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats or to conduct a SWOT analysis of Wal-Mart.
