Cellular protein synthesis is a two step process. The first process is DNA transcription in which inside the cell's nucleus a gene encoding protein is copied into RNA. Then genes, in the form of DNA, are branded into the cell's chromosomes. Essentially this transcription process is copying mechanism. The next step in cellular protein synthesis is RNA translation. This step occurs after the mRNA has been moved to the ribosomal translation machines. These ribosomes are then read like a book and placed in specific sequences in order to produce the desired cell structure. Brown University's Health Education Website list several advantages of a vegetarian diet. They include the following:

According to the ADA, vegetarians are at lower risk for developing:

Heart disease

Colorectal, ovarian, and breast cancers

...

Children need to modify their diet to ensure that protein and extra calcium is suffeciently consumed by eating foods such as grains, lentisl beans, tofu, nuts, milk, yogurt and other dairy products

1. When the body is depleted of food sources it will begin to function in a starvation mode. The metabolic functions of the body focus on burning the fatty acids of the body located in the fat reserves. When this fat is expended, the body begins to burn muscle for fuel. When dieting, the body will lose more weigh when muscle is burned due to its larger…

123). In this study, Martinez-Contreras and her associates report the results of recent research that has provided additional evidence concerning the function of these proteins in precursor-messenger RNA (pre-mRNA) splicing (2007). The splicing repression can function in two discrete ways in heterogeneous nuclear RNP proteins; the first way is by antagonizing the recognition of splice sites directly and the second way is through interference with the binding of proteins that

Desiccation Tolerance in Prokaryotes Prokaryotes or eukaryote is the organism that makes up the microbial world. Prokaryotes are deficient of internal unit membranes and are self-sufficient cells or organisms. The best-known prokaryotic organisms are the bacteria. The cell membrane in prokaryotes makes up the cell's primary osmotic barrier and consists of a phsopholipids unit membrane. The ribosome carries out translation and protein synthesis and is present in the cytoplasm. Normally, the

Genomes and Comparative Genomics Over the last decade we have achieved rapid strides in the field of genetic engineering. The study of molecular biology has been fairly advanced mainly aided by the unprecedented growth in information technology. Today bio-informatics has opened new vitas for us and we are already progressing in investigating and in the comparative study of genomes. This has shed new light up on our knowledge of the evolutionary

Amidation of Peptides

Amidation of Peptides in Humans Modern biotechnology has experienced dramatic leaps in the body of knowledge concerning molecular processes in peptides and how they work. Many of these processes rely on amidation of peptides to achieve increasingly important medical and commercial applications. Peptides are created when two or more amino acids are covalently joined by peptide bonds, a process termed post-translational modification. One increasingly valuable application of post-translational modification is

Transcription is a process that genetic information on the DNA copies into RNA and the DNA acts as the template for the new molecules of RNA. Transcription process begins with the DNA double helix unwinding as the hydrogen bonds holding the opposing bases breaks and the DNA strands are uncoupled. The process occurs within the cytoplasm of a prokaryote and in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells. Transcription process consists

Carbon cycles through the ecosystem between the atmosphere, organisms (such as producers, herbivores, and carnivores) and decomposers. This natural cycle maintains a somewhat constant level of carbon in the atmosphere. The burning of fossil fuels releases carbon into the cycle that has been trapped inside the earth. How does this affect the cycle and what problems can this cause? The two main processes of the carbon cycle are photosynthesis and metabolism.
