The central area of the city is known as Mound City and this was also the city's original name. The eastern part of the settlement is known as Bryn Mawr and it became an integral part of Loma Linda during recent years, this most probably being a result of the fact that the town had experienced steady progress ever during the last few decades.

More than one third of the individuals in Loma Linda are foreign-born (34.2%), this making it possible to understand that foreigners perceive this city as being particularly attractive, both from an economic and from a political point-of-view. It is likely that the fact that the majority of individuals in the city are relatively young plays an important role in providing foreigners with an open-minded environment where people express little to no discrimination toward individuals that are foreign-born.
White persons are the dominant race group (47.8%) in Loma Linda while Asians are in second place (28,3%) and Hispanics or individuals with a Latino origin are in third place (22.2%). It is interesting to see that even though Loma Linda appears to be a patriarchal society with most firms being owned by men, women hold an important percentage (30.3%) in the business-owning group. Again, the fact that the city has a young population is probable to be an important factor making it possible for gender to be less significant when regarding attitudes toward business-owners.
