¶ … NURSE Corps Mission in Providing Care to Under-Served Communities A number of factors potentially contribute to lack of an adequate healthcare workforce in particular communities. Issues such as salary potential, cultural climates and lifestyle preferences may drive professionals to other communities. Penury-ridden civic populations and other such concerns may explain the inadequacy of healthcare service access and delivery in such underserved places. Via the NURSE Corps Scholarship initiative, we will be able to offer underserved populations more equitable healthcare services.

Healthcare providers' commitment to serving people hailing from disadvantaged locales can help fill some gaps evident in this critical area. I would personally contribute to the Initiative's mission by pledging to play the role of a nurse in any one critically short-staffed healthcare facility after graduating. It is imperative for us to meet patient care and nursing standards on some general ground. Through collaboration, we will be able to rectify the imbalance in healthcare workplaces and enrich patient care in underserved communities.

Through my commitment to serving patients in the role of a nurse at a critically short-staffed healthcare center, I would, in truth, be reciprocating to a community of which I am a part. I personally feel everyone is morally obliged to reciprocate to the society, in order to encourage collective constructive progress and ensure future community success. When citizens accept such responsibilities, we will be able to create a strong society. Consequently, because of adequate staffing, we will likely witness improvements in patient care quality.

Research proves that adequate nurse staffing is directly related to superior patient care quality. My chief role in the NURSE Corps' mission would be increasing scores of patient satisfaction in vulnerable communities. I can immediately begin working on easing the gap in the workplace after assuming my job at the critically short-staffed facility. By means of continued teamwork and dedication, the overall healthcare workforce can enhance patient care quality in vulnerable communities. Residing in underserved communities ought not to imply sacrifice of care quality.

Underserved and marginalized community members articulate their frustrations with external agencies, defining the problems faced by them without paying any attention to community strengths, assets, local knowledge and resources.

Asset-based development of communities is one strategy for community health improvement, which concentrates on identification of major community strengths, in addition to mapping community assets' range that include: Individuals (including community leaders, elders, tribal councils, coaches, healers, parents, and youth); Community resources (including youth programs, schools, and community centers); Financial resources or funding sources; and Institutional infrastructure (including transportation, buildings, and roads).

Commencement of the community engagement process aimed at addressing mental health issues in the given community can be aided by adopting an asset-based approach, i.e., concentrating on what seems to work well rather than on what's wrong within the given community. Adopting a positive attitude towards local knowledge (i.e., the knowledge community members possess on account of life experiences within their respective community) and community strengths helps develop trusting partnerships. Protection.
