Is the phenomenon of job burnout among vocational counselors influenced by the absolute success rate among their clients?

Is the phenomenon of job burnout among vocational counselors influenced by the relative success rate among their clients in comparison to the success rates of their colleagues?

To the extent the phenomenon of job burnout among vocational counselors is influenced by the success rate of their clients, can procedures be implemented to use that association to reduce job burnout among vocational counselors?

Low success rate among vocational counseling clients could conceivably be one of the sources of job stress or diminished enthusiasm among professional vocational counselors that contributes to eventual job burnout. To the extent that is true, both absolute success rates in general or relative success rates in comparison to colleagues could contribute to that process.

Defining and Operationalizing Constructs:

Awareness of the success rates of the clients of professional vocational counseling among vocational counselors could influence job satisfaction, in connection with which low rates of success could contribute to the phenomenon of job burnout among counselors. A quantitative study to identify whether any such relationship exists would involve comparing the rate of job burnout among vocational counselors whose clients are more successful with the rate of job burnout among counselors whose clients are less successful.

More particularly, such a study could also examine whether absolute or relative success rates are more important with respect to the potential influence on job burnout among counselors. In the event a positive correlation exists, the results of this study could suggest a manner of implementing administrative and operational changes to the counseling process designed to minimize this specific source of contributing to job burnout among professional vocational counselors.
