Scenario 2 reflects positive forethought and planning in the teacher's explanation regarding traffic flow; however sand can still be extremely messy, even outdoors. Children must have a place to clean themselves before re-entering the classroom. Using modeling clay or other materials might be more feasible given the cleanup needs of a classroom. Scenario 3 is a good idea in that it uses arts and crafts to reflect the lessons learned on a field trip but some food cartons can be sharp or unsanitary; they must be selected carefully. In Scenario 4, rather than defaulting to the modern obsession with technology like iPads, the teacher should take measures to make the hands-on clay modeling station more attractive. My earliest musical experiences involved singing in the classroom; my early childhood educators were strong singers but unfortunately I am not. My own musical limitations are my greatest concern but I hope to make use of group sing-a-longs and physical movement during music classes to address these concerns. If a parent objected I would explain that children's musical...

Bauhaus After World War I, the nation state of Germany under the direction of architect Walter Gropius created a "consulting art center for industry and the trades" (Bayer 12). Called Bauhaus, "house for building," the school combined the role of artisans and craftspeople and included everything from architecture to theater to typography. When the school was forced to close during the Nazi regime in 1932, many of its artists moved to

According to Robinson, what the policymakers have failed to take into account is that the world is changing faster than ever in our history. He believes that the best hope for the future is to develop a new paradigm of human

Culture I come from a mixed background, and my culture has been influenced also by various normative elements in American society. The Cuban side of my family has stressed the importance of frequent cultural gatherings and a strong emphasis on food, drink, and other social elements of celebration. The German side of my family has less of an emphasis on overt expressions of culture, and provides an interesting and educational counterpoint.

Art and Politics "Light being the very essence of our existence, a work of art that is not concerned with light has no right to exist." (Rosso 23) The eye takes in and processes a world of information all at once. We do not even fully recognize all of the inputs that the brain processes. In fact, the brain is still more sophisticated than the world's most powerful computer. These facts have

(Mulcahy and Wyszomirski 139) However, this is not art for art's sake; it is art for our children's sake. If one has to put on the back burner that Picasso was a cubist for the sake of challenging a child to look at a painting and just experience it, than so be it. The very act of simply experiencing the art of an artist can have profound effects on the
