¶ … positives and negatives of the criminal justice policy of surveillance in the age of homeland security is that it provides protection for citizens, but it also raises questions about privacy rights and causes citizens to be fearful that the government is spying on them. Thus there are both positives and negatives to the policy. This affects courts, corrections and juvenile justice in the sense that each has to be aware of rights of persons. The president's stance on this issue is that it is necessary to help combat the enemy. These policing concepts fit in with the concept of social justice because they promote safety and they help stakeholders to feel more secure (Friedman, Miles, 2002). This is imperative for promoting a society that rests on justice and tries to incorporate a framework for safety that protects citizens but also discourages criminal behavior by showing a strong framework for monitoring activity and being vigilant in the face of attacks. This enables officers to be more informed of what is happening on the streets. The government funds this initiative by taking dollars from taxes, so it is a tax-funded initiative. The court-directed revisions to criminal justice policies overall have a promising effect on criminal justice reform, as they ensure that better care is being taken to provide oversight. This is true in the case of officers seeking warrants for special taps or for obtaining evidence that may be used in a trial. The communication between the field officers and the courts is imperative in ensuring that the right approach to criminal justice is taken (Tiley, 2014).
