Sociology: Peer Review I.D.E.A. Critical Reflection

Passion

Gender inequality is described on various spectra that signify the disparities between the two genders: men and women. For example, discrimination of pay for both genders could be considered gender inequality in political representation, work-life responsibilities or work chores at home, education, education, and even health (Kurzman et al., 2019).

Identify

NASW’s stated position on this issue is clear and concise since its code of ethics prohibits any engagement in discrimination that might hinder either of the genders from freedom of expression, particularly religious freedom. The social workers have the right to the client’s well-being, for which condoning of discrimination is corroborated by NASW’s Code of Ethics, Standard 4.02 (Barsky, 2021).

Describe

The ethical foundation of NASW’s current position is based on the legal freedom of all human beings equally (Barsky, 2021). The ethical obligation does not want to hurt any human or discriminate from their best interests. Even the respectable treatment of L.G.B.T.Q. is supported as they should be acknowledged. Moreover, people with disabilities should be given special concern, regardless of gender.

Elaborate

The open-ended questions that demonstrate critical thought on the current issue’s position in the light of social work/ policy practice are as follows:

· Can women empowerment be considered as gender equality in social terms?

· Should men be concerned about gender equality and giving the same opportunities to both genders?

· What influence would gender equality have on social practice to maximize social welfare?

Apply

The general position to the specifics of this passion, gender inequality in the contemporary world, is about leadership and entrepreneurship for both genders equally (Belingheri et al., 2021). The obvious bias against women makes it hard for them to gain special leadership positions in the business world as competitiveness and achievement quotients are set high. Men want to maintain their higher role in society, which is evident in these two areas. The institutional, legal and ideological barriers are present for the women that have remained a challenge for females for centuries to beat.
