BJ's Wholesale Enterprise Architecture

It is necessary to develop a business environment that shelters all applications under one roof. As such, the business environment will minimize the average cost of running a business and ensure that systems are not redundant. A desirable business environment is one that merges I.T orientations to a business environment without the two contradicting each other. Subsequent effort to improvise this system has seen software developers come up with responsive system, ERP systems, or Point of Sales amongst others. However, these systems fail to provide a comprehensive business approach. After all, quality counts than quantity and having many systems does not denote proper service orientation. For this reason, researchers affiliated to IBM developed the MDM to ensure that various business systems are well and fully managed and thus, eliminating the occurrence of redundancy.

Part One: Business model

Enterprise Resource Planning. This business management software is integrated into the application and obliged to collect, store, manage and interpret data in a business environment.


Master Data Management is a technology discipline that integrates I.T in a real business environment. The core focus includes; accountability, accuracy, consistency, uniformity, and stewardship.

BJ Wholesale

This is a brand name of an American company that operates discounted department stores. The firm operates in United States East Coast and Ohio


Java 2, Platform, Enterprise Edition. This is a widely used Java platform designed for mainframe scale computing whose design facilitates the service of large enterprises and organizations. J2EE includes vital components of the Java language, which are Java 2 Platform and Standard J2SEE.


Commonly referred as Enterprise Architecture as established IBM, it is vital in the analysis of a system, designing, planning, and implementation. EA applies certified principles and practices utilizing various aspects of the enterprise.


International Business Model is a software and hardware development company that offers enterprise solutions.


The Open Group Architecture Framework, TOGAF, is an established standard framework that responds planning, implementing, designing, and governing enterprise information architecture. TOGAF provides an appropriate approach in establishing reliable stands for Business, application, data, and technologies.

The coordination department is entitled to conduct close functional requirements for Point of Sale and ERP system. Otto (2012, pp. 337) argues that the application functions include diagrams and their descriptions. Point of sale and warehouse management will be seconded by a payroll system, which remunerates employees. For this reason, the program is important since Matthew James will be in a position to monitor the acquisition and dispensation of the program.


MDM version 11.0 will coordinate software system named in the above statement. The goal is to enhance activities through communication of a common system and minimize cost and time used. The system is congruent with requirements of the organization since each transaction will be registered on the MDM server. This system will affect Matthew's activities because he will not be required to check in by phone to various program supervisors. The program will ensure that clients are principally served at a minimal cost as possible.

Master Data Management (MDM) version 10.1 has been revised with the current version being 11.0. This version has adopted various components from its predecessor version 10.0. Similarly, the system can operate on a standalone server or a web-server. Additionally, MDM has been developed from J2EE perspective in RSA right clicking to an import an EAR file. IBM has further provided users with specifically with legacy MDM and MDS. Additionally, the system provides a virtual hub, which is easier to either applying the centralized style or hybrid. Critical features include; enhances Expanded Patient Hub features for medical applications. Finally, enhanced MDM and Data-Stage integration specifically developed for the provision of more server room (Haug, 2011, pp. 288).

Both, MDM can operate online or as primarily batch. Version 11 enables the processing system and data be collected in groups. Processing enables the interactive of different groups. Online processing is used for interactive business system, and this enhances immediate data input and output. Alternatively, in version 11, batch processing enables the development of a large amount of data to provide for routine scheduling like integration of credit card transactions on employee salaries. Additionally, the online version enables proper assess and more so; Smartphone companies are provisioning for the development of apps, which can operate on the phone while facilitating ease of assessment. In summary, batch and online system enables the development of the 1000 records to run the program in version 11 (Nedumov, 2013, pp. 119).

Daily Frequency

The frequent nature of data updates requires system administrators monitor the system on a day-to-day basis. Admin logs can be authenticated at either offline or online sourcing. The system applies Architecture Development Method that meets business and information needs of the organization. Haug (2011, pp. 289) establishes that the TOGAF approach is appropriate since it enables the MDM to meet requirements the business. A desirable system is one that does not change business objective, but seeks to encourage the development of an information system that meets decisive goals of the business.
