Child & Adolescent Psychology ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)

Gabriel shows the frequency of ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) as well as CD (Conduct disorder). Sometimes, children suffering from ADHD may also suffer from conduct disorder (CD), which is an even more antisocial behavior pattern. Statistics show that 45% of the kids have ADHD whilst 25% may have conduct disorder. Conduct disorder is observed in boys as compared to girls and rises with age. According to research, parents of conduct disorder children are known to be quite violent. They lack some fundamental parenting skills such as usage of discipline, permissive, erratic, inconsistent and less monitoring of children, discouraging social behavior and encouraging undesirable behavior (Jones & Rabinovitch, 2014, p. 177-184; Disruptive Behavior Disorders | Behavioral Neuro-therapy Clinic, n.d). Gabriel's treatment requires his own and family's intervention as well. According to research, to cope against child conduct disorder, a skill is required in the domain of child competence.
Competence indicates the ability of a kid to work with the development as it progresses which consists of interacting with people, completing developmental actions, interacting with environment and lastly, using approaches which enhance adaptive functions. Apart from that, treatment interventions will be fostered which will work on changing the cognitive processes of a child and develop pro-social behavior as opposed to anti-social behaviors.
