Still, a vast amount of progress has taken place concerning racism in America. Slavery and the Jim Crowe laws were abolished and balance-minded programs such as Affirmative Action (though controversial) have been implemented (Bonilla-Silva, 2009). And, even once in office, should they be elected, black politicians must still at times, it seems (given the Cynthia McKinney incident and its apparent overall cost to her political career) "know their place," i.e., as a patiently-waiting Congressional pin-wearer at the metal detector. Otherwise, black politicians in particular, especially pin-less ones, may very well find themselves again restricted from all but areas outside the House. Works Cited African-Americans in the

" The Aftermath Uncle Tom characters were common in both white and black productions of the time, yet no director before Micheaux had so much as dared to shine a light on the psychology that ravages such characters. By essentially bowing to the two white men, Micheaux implied that Old Ned was less than a man; an individual whittled down to nothing more than yes-man and wholly deprived of self-worth. At this

Second Inaugural Address: President Obama Giving an inaugural address is a massive endeavor, and requires an extensive amount of preparation for the speaker. Public speaking requires more structure and detail than ordinary conversation: even a short speech given by a student to the classroom requires research, audience analysis, and above all practice. As a U.S. president entering his second term, it was incumbent upon President Obama to give a speech that

However, the petition contained only five signatures and was subsequently denied. The first true women's movement marks July 13,

The Union's failed raid on Richmond was also approved by Lincoln, and it was later believed that he ordered the death of Jeff Davis in a strategy to end the war. Such speculations were extremely damaging for the strength of the government, and similar conspiracy theories fascinate historians to this day. In this,

White racist people have since regarded any non-white person residing in the U.S. As a potential criminal. Several attempts have been made in order to change people's opinions and to make all the people in the U.S. And in the whole world feel and act equal. Such attempts have been made so that people would no longer differentiate their fellow humans because of morally wrong reasons. Barack Obama is the 44th
