In such a case, detailed and comprehensive planning is conducted once or even twice annually. The organization looks at all the aspects of strategic planning. These are the vision, mission, timelines, budgets, objectives, goals and strategies. First, now I understand that strategic planning is a management tool. It is used to identify the vision, mission, goals, values, timeline among other things. Just like other management tools, it is applied for one reason only: to help an organization perform better. This involves ensuring people within the firm are working towards shared goals in response the dynamic business climate. Next, I have also discovered that strategic planning is effective if it supports strategic thinking and results in strategic management as it is the base for any successful organization. Strategic thinking implies having a definite purpose of the business, understanding the business climate and creativity in developing successful responses to the environmental forces. Then, it follows that strategic planning applies strategic thinking to organizational leadership.
