Health Campaign Slogan or Message for Tb or Other Emerging Infectious Diseases
A HEALTH CAMPAIGN SLOGAN FOR TB OROTHER EMERGING INFECTIOUS DISEASES
Factors To Be Considered
The effective and efficient campaign is established from clear messages that have a clear statement of the message, the desired solutions (as found in the campaign goal) and the possible action plan that can be taken to reach the goal of the campaign. The message becomes effective when it captures the attention of the audience. The clarity of the message comes with the lettering, the size of the object bearing the message, the coloring of the message, the creativity within the message, and the overall location of the message object (Freeman & Lu, 2009). The audience will be able to capture the interests of the health campaign message if it has been written in the language easily understood, with the use of the simplest words possible, and with large or effective print. There should be no further explanation to make the message brief and to the point. In some campaigns, the audiences dictate the nature of the message that is crafted. For instance, there could be different messages for different audiences. Such specifications can be done when the audience characteristics are treated as essential elements in the establishment of a successful campaign. The characteristics include language differences, cultural differences and beliefs influencing the integration of the message. In case a message appears to be protesting another, the message has to be made in such a way that it appears to be repeating itself sometimes (Freeman & Lu, 2009).
When devising the messages, it is imperative to have a participatory approach together with the target group. The target audiences should be involved as a way of having their views integrated within the health campaign message. The drafters should consider collecting draft messages from the audiences targeted, and revised to make them testable and worth conveying what is to be directed to the audience (Roberts, 2004). Moreover, those who have not been involved in the campaign should also have their interests represented. There should be an intention to access the benefit of 'fresh eyes and ears' together with making a productive consideration of the unbiased opinions. The message should integrate the following elements:
Ask: there should be a brief statement of what the campaign intends to change. In this case, the message is to proclaim the message of awareness of TB or other emerging infectious diseases among the people. The message has to be inspiring and always positive.
The reason: the message should bring out the reason for the change as indicated by the campaign message. The reasons for the proclamation of the awareness over TB or other emerging infectious diseases should be clear so that people chose between accepting the change or failing to accept the change at all scenarios (Roberts, 2004).
