Independent Realtors: Breaking Through the Recession

In a post-recession world of economic uncertainty and high unemployment, many markets continue to flounder -- particularly the real estate market. With the status of the market at a tremendous low, and the number of realtors in the country dropping by more than 60,000 in two years alone, it is clear that the industry is in need of massive assistance. Real estate agents across the country now face more uncertainty in their jobs than ever before. Not only is the market a rocky one, but a job that once came with guaranteed longevity is now one of uncertainty. In assessing how American independent realtors can beat their current surroundings, it is clear that certain tactics must be taken in order to initiate both change and improvements within the market. Through the utilization of the international market, the web market and the relocation market, realtors can work to not only improve their personal employment status, but that of their individual firms in order to set both back on the path to stabilization.

This research project seeks to pinpoint the specifics of the aforementioned modes of improvement -- utilization of the international, web, and relocation markets -- in terms of bringing in revenue for small realty firms and independent realtors. In viewing statistics and market trends, one can assert that in utilizing such tactics, a noticeable degree of improvement has been pinpointed and can continue to keep realtors afloat as the market continues to stabilize.
