This created silent enemies whose sole purpose is to make that person look like a complete and total loser. Therefore, restoring the balance that was lost and feeling better about them while you are left feeling degraded and humiliated about what happened. On the other hand, the lesson is often learned the hard way and one can see that it does not pay often times to stick out in the crowd. There are those that thrive in the monotony of it all being predictable. If one follows the leader than no harm can come to them and balance is once again restored. It never works trying to appear better than those that you seek support from, they end up feeling as if you only want their support because you in fact think in some way you are better than they are. This is a sure way to keep people from wanting to be around you. Law 46: Never appear too Perfect, Appearing better than others is always dangerous, but most dangerous of all is to appear to have no faults or weaknesses. Envy creates silent enemies. It is smart to occasionally display defects, and admit to harmless vices, in order to deflect envy and appear more human and approachable. Only gods and the dead can seem perfect with impunity.

When people always try to appear as though there is nothing wrong with them, they leave their entire life open to scrutiny. No one is perfect, and those that are jealous and others that thrive on being able to show the flaws and imperfections in ones character quickly cut those that attempt to seem perfect...

Everyone likes to feel like he or she is not alone in his or her fault. Which leads to the saying that "misery loves company"? It is often difficult to find someone that wants to be uplifting and supportive to a person that is doing better than he or she. In addition, animosity has never been a pretty display of affection.
An example of this law could be best shown through showing the scrutiny that a model, celebrities, and pageant contestants go through. When there are celebrities that very little is said about this triggers something in the media at times. All of a sudden, it becomes a never-ending hunt to find those things wrong with that individual, because of course no one is perfect right? If you have a celebrity that is always know for having their hair perfectly in place and they always look so healthy and well maintained they then become a target. The one day said celebrity is seen in a sweatshirt and sweatpants with they hair unkempt, it is front-page news. However if that same celebrity allows society to see them that way, they become human and no one really attempts to scrutinize their actions at that point.

Unfortunately, the truth remains in the ideal that image is often everything. Though we as a society want to believe there is a human error side to everyone, it is amazing how it affects us if we are allowed to see too many imperfections at once. The moral of the story is to error is human and often more supported than those that seem too good to be true.
