Man-Made And Natural Disasters Have Been A Research Paper

¶ … man-made and natural disasters have been a menace in the world today with traumatized people dying in large numbers. The trauma centers have not been able to cope with this issue due to different reasons. This has brought the interest of the research because the tragedies can be minimized. Preparedness is the major area to be considered since it seems that neither the community nor the government is normally well prepared for this (Gold 2009). The trauma clinics that have been set up at the local level also seem to be facing difficulties with handling of these disasters. The research will help in identifying which areas need to be specifically looked at for the proper handling of the trauma patients. Different methodologies will be used to collect data and different objectives will be addressed. The theory is highly on a result of the medical approach to this trauma stress. Most of the studies as seen in the trauma literature seem to focus on identifying the risk factors for clarification of the psychological outcomes that are linked to the trauma exposure (Benight 2012). Although not fully, this approach of identifying the risk factors has relied on inductive analysis, which involves explaining the symptom profiles. It has also utilized multiple regression analysis to understand the risk factors predictors of these psychological outcomes. However, most of these centers are not fully prepared when the disaster strikes. This has caused a lot of unnecessary deaths.

Community preparedness is the main theory that needs to be addressed in case of disasters that could been about trauma related cases. This can be done by both community and health workers. The community can have appointed leaders to take charge during these traumatizing times. They can team up to come up with plans that can be implemented. Kits can be used as well as fliers with educational...

There has been the problem in the shortage of staff. During these disasters, lack of experienced health workers has caused a delay in handling the affected people. Different units that have the different experiences during disasters are never available. This has been a major problem that needs to be addressed. There are different local and International health agents that should be called when such situations arise. They have different levels of nurses who will provide first aid to the patients whether it's in CPR or inducing IVs. With enough number of nurses and doctors, the situation could be well handled (Benight 2012).
All citizens should also be well informed on the actions to take in case of such disasters. The government health cares and other local organizations should come together and offer lessons to this effect since ignorance has been noted during such disasters. There are people who tend to run towards the scenes instead of taking cover. Others are even adamant to move even when advice is given to them through media or other officers. This has seen more casualties being taken in while it would have been avoided.

Overcrowding in the trauma clinics has been noted due to the space of the clinics and also shortage of first aid kits. The centers should be provided with enough equipment to cater for the number of the affected people. Hence the question of coping should be handled. The clinic should be able to handle significant numbers of patients. The Emergency Room area should be spacious enough to cope with the patients coming in. The clinics should have enough ambulances that are equipped with first aid facilities…
