Career Plan Building Activities

There are many aspects to my character that I believe will allow me the resilience necessary to further my career. From my work experience and my education I have developed many insights to organizational issues. An effective manager needs to understand both their professional competencies as well as their limitations. I believe that I will be most effective when I can devote myself to an exciting career. I'm naturally attracted to intellectual stimulation and perpetual challenges. Furthermore, I am also more comfortable in a dynamic and changing landscape that is dynamic in nature.

However, I also realize that it is commonly the case that an employee must do the job that they have to before they can get the job that they want. Although I believe I have realized my ideal job type, I also understand that I must work up to that position. This may require making the best out of a situation in which tasks seem dull or boring. I also realize the need to also further develop my communication skills. Although I generally do not have too much trouble communicating with people in general, there are a few personality types that I have had trouble communicating with in the past. Therefore, being able to be more patient and communicate in a clearer and more direct approach with conflicting personalities is something I will have to work on in the future to further develop my communication skills.

Another issue that I realize that I could further develop in regards to my communication techniques is self-restraint. Although ambition and determination is a quality serves many situations well, in others it does not return the best results and can actually be counterproductive. Instead of jumping right into something and trying to change something for the better, it is better to pick and choose battles. However, knowing when to stick your neck out requires a great deal of self-knowledge and self-restraint. Although I am naturally driven, I also understand that part of being driven also requires me to show discipline in a wide range of situations.
