Why Four Gospels?
There is much controversy regarding the fact that Christianity promotes the idea that it is perfectly natural for Christians to respect four gospels. Many people have trouble understanding the attitudes that they need to employ regarding the four gospels because they come across stories that are similar to one-another and because some points-of-view expressed by a particular gospel appear to contradict points present in other gospels. One needs to comprehend that the gospels were actually designed to express stories as seen from the perspective of the person writing them. As a consequence, some aspects in one gospel might differ from ideas in other gospels precisely because the writer interpreted ideas that he encountered and wrote them as seen from his point-of-view.

This is apparently why Christianity refrained from only constructing a single gospel, as early Christians were well-acquainted with the fact that people needed personalized versions of the word of God in order for them to be able to understand the idea that Christianity in general is meant to put across. Matthew is generally believed to be written for Jewish individuals, Mark for Romans, Luke for Greeks, and John for society as a whole. Further analysis confirms this theory, considering that Matthew contains a lot of information from the Old Testament, Mark has a succinct style, Luke contains numerous references to complex ideas relating to science and culture, and John provides a clear account that involves a multitude of ideas, each of them being designed to be understood by a certain group of people.
