¶ … business plan is to raise $250,000 for the development of non-invasive glucose mentoring devices you need to summarize the product, target market, competitors, advantages of your product and your entry strategy .
Summarize product
The HHG1-C, created by C8 MediSensors, is an accurate, non-invasive continuous glucose monitor that connects to the iPhone of the diabetes manager, and will call someone if the CGM alarms and the individual with diabetes doesn't respond.
Individuals with diabetes had to until now puncture the skin to test their blood level. This instrument, on the other hand, is a sensor sitting against the skin that uses light to identify and analyze glucose molecules under the skin, via interstitial fluid. Each glucose molecule has a special "signature" which the sensor identifies, and from there, it analyzes and extrapolates a glucose value, which is transmitted via Bluetooth to a handheld device, like an iPhone or Android, or to a computer (Alliosn, 2011).
Target market
The HHG1-C services diabetes patients who have to regularly monitor their glucose level and constantly puncture their skin in order to do so. This is a large high-margin market.
The other target market is the rapidly growing hospital point-of-care device market . This consists of those that allow home users and healthcare professionals to acquire do-it-yourself medical technology at cheaper, more affordable, accurate, and instant ways.
Competitors
Alternatives to CGMs (current glucose-monitoring devices) include devices that continuously monitor blood glucose levels. They are however insufficiently accurate and cannot be used for long periods of time.
Many of the competitors are also trying to develop an "artificial pancreas," that could regulate an implanted insulin pump and by so doing prevent the pain and inconvenience of CGMs. This however is still in the process and has various challenges attached.
Immunoassays are another technique that are used to measure diabetes level. Strips attached to skin code changing color. Low detection levels are needed for their commercialization, and C8 MediSensors considers that HHG1-C can be useful here.
Advantages of product
The main advantage is that it is non-invasive. It also doesn;t need calibration or warm up since it reads glucose molecules and is, therefore, pre-calibrated in the laboratory.
It doesn't need to be changed. Traditional CGMs need to be changed frequently,. HG1-c, on the other hand, is a sensor that is extraneous to the body and, therefore, can be used repeatedly.
The HG1-c is an all-in-one device that differs from traditional CGMs in that all the monitoring and calculations are done inside the sensor. (traditional CGMs transmit data to a device for analysis which then displays the glucose reading). Very importantly, too, the HG1-c connects with the necessary party (for instance 911) when the person with diabetes fails to respond.
Entry strategy
The HHG1-C is still in its investigatory stage. Its next step is to be approved in Europe, receiving the European CE Mark before proceeding to gain FDA approval
2. Opportunity rationale - identify the opportunity/target market, make sure to addresses the need for you product.
The target market that the HHG1-C services is diabetes patients who have to regularly monitor their glucose level and constantly puncture their skin in order to do so.
The product is indispensable in various ways. Advantages include the fact that it does;t need calibration or warm up as original CGMs did taking up a lot of time. The instrument too doesn't need to be changed. Traditional CGMs need to be changed frequently, and this too is frustrating and time-wasting to the user.
Valuable too is the fact that the HG1-c is an all-in-one device that differs from traditional CGMs in that all the monitoring and calculations are done inside the sensor. traditional CGMs, as is known, transmit data to a device for analysis which then displays the glucose reading. This is more irksome.
