Internal communication is useful for proper communication between management and the employee and also between employees and their fellow employees

External communication is the mode at which an organization relates to its customers or the general public and includes marketing, public relations, investor relations, and corporate advertising.

Communication in organizations has the following importance

It changes individual's attitude towards the organization this is because the employees will be more informed of what is going on within the organization.

It keeps all the workers and the management informed hence hastening the decision making process within the organization

It keeps employees motivated by making it clear on roles to be played by each employee and how they can improve their performance.

It brings individuals in the organization together

Communication sets some limits for the employees in an organization. It clearly sets the policies and guidelines to be followed.

Steps involved in organizational planning

1. Setting of goals

In any organization there must be an aim. The most crucial part in organizational planning is setting of goals or objectives. The goals must be attainable, verifiable, clear and must be measurable. When coming up with objectives, the organization's mission must be put into consideration. The available resources must also be considered.

2. Development of the plan

The conditions of the planning process must again be identified; this is done by accurate forecasting of the future events. These conditions can be revised based on the prevailing conditions.

3. Review of the constraints

The drawbacks that affect the ability of the organization to achieve its goals must also be put into focus. This is because these limitations affect the viability of the organization.

4. Policy formulation

It is the responsibility of the organization, after setting the goals, to formulate policies so that the organization can meet its desired objectives.

5. Preparation of operating plan

The action plans can be in the form of short-range or long-range strategies which reflects time and money. They maintain the continuity of the operations

6. Integrating the plan

This involves putting the plan into action. The various action plans must be explained and communicated to the individuals responsible for its implementation.

Role of management

The management has very critical role in guiding the organization towards achievement of its goals and objectives. The management assigns roles to employees under them to ensure full attainment of the objectives. It is through the innovativeness of the management that employees will be encouraged to play leading roles in policy implementation.

Strategies for influencing organizational change

1. Shaping and awaiting the future

In this case the management creates alternative scenarios of the future and explains the opportunities available. The strengths and weakness are also put into consideration.

2. Explaining the competencies of the business

The management has to make sure that the future is predictable. There must be hope in the coming change.

3. Increasingly changing the processes

The organization has to make the employee to be focused on making the small changes, although the changes has a considerable effects

Minimizing conflicts

One of the key strategies of minimizing conflict during a change in an organization is by planning for the change and making prior communication to all employees concerning the change. This will make the entire employees ready for any eventuality that may come with the changes.

Another strategy is agreeing to disagree. The employees must be made aware that there are healthy disagreements and the differences created by the change must be discussed openly

Financial implications

The proposed changes will mean an increased financial performance of the company. The selectivity in planning on the staffing activities of any organization will have a positive impact on the organization's finances. The increased number of employees who are committed will equate to a higher performance of the organization. In other words the expansion of the organization in terms of service provision and employee number will increase the financial performance of the organization.
