This will lead automatically and inevitably to the near-worship of certain personalities and entities in the civic realm. Glenn Beck is not actually an office holder, nor is he truly likely to become one (at least on a national level), and he also includes religious (specifically Christian, and even more specifically a brand of evangelical Christian) thought in many of his messages. Yet his following is also evidence of the Orwellian replacement of religious figures with civic figures, and the manner in which the state itself is becoming the focus of worship. Beck and others like him -- on both sides of the political spectrum -- attempt to make the government a matter of morality and directly codified values rather than a matter of ethicality and democratic equality. That is, these personalities insist that there are clear "rights" and "wrongs" in matters of policy that are...

Such determination of morality has traditionally been a matter for religious order and individuals, but it is increasingly becoming part of the state's responsibility according to Beck and others. This means individuals look to these figures for guidance rather than to themselves or their religious leaders.
This is a dangerous Orwellian situation, as media figures and politicos might make "moral" determinations based on their own self-interest rather than actual "goodness" or even the ethicalities and practicalities of the outcome. When these figures are worshipped at the expense of true religion or self-determination, the potential for a tyranny of the majority and true thought control becomes much greater, as well.

In the space of only thirty-five years, there had been two world wars, a communist revolution, a host of fascist dictators, and a frenzy of slaughter such as had never

History Of Theory Behind Curriculum Development The evolution of curriculum theory by and large reflects the current of thought found in the academic-political landscape. The essence of the ancient maxim cuius regio, eius religio applies here: who reigns, his religion. In this case, who reigns, his curriculum. This has been true throughout all the centuries where education was deemed important by a group of individuals or a State. For example, in

George Orwell's 1984 And Contemporary American Politics And Society Orwell's novel, entitled 1984, is essentially a fictional projection of possibilities and "what if" scenarios. While it is classified as a work of fiction, the foundations of 1984 stem from the author's personal experiences and insights into the way governments and political groups manipulate and even construct the truth to suit their own ends in an effort to gain and maintain power.

Racism in Education Indeed, obviously, since the institution and signing of the Civil Rights Act in America by former President Lyndon Baines Johnson, along with concomitant legislation including the Equal Housing Act and other extensions of Civil Rights, engaging in systematic racial discrimination or allowing racist thinking and planning to affect the policies of any institution -- whether private or public -- has been strictly banned by the U.S. Government in

Police Ethics Description Ethics is a delicate topic in the context of policing, as police officers are often coming across situations when they need to act on account of their instinct rather than on ethical thinking. Individuals are subjected to a continuous amount of stress during their jobs as police officers and they thus have to be able to put across the best performance possible on a constant basis. Even with this,

This latest addition to the electronic surveillance repertoire of the U.S. government should alarm everyone in the country because of its potential for abuse (remember Nixon?). Conclusion The research showed that electronic surveillance and wiretapping are legitimately used by law enforcement officials in the United States when they have
