Zits learns that even in the darkest places, love is possible. However, you have to be willing to accept it, which he was not always willing to do, in many of his past foster families. He also learns about the difficulty of showing love. Many times men, because they are uncomfortable with love, express their affection through violence towards their sons, as in the case of the uncompromising Indian warrior father with his mute young son at the Battle of Little Big Horn.
