Email Policy Restrictions Respond to the following prompts:

Identify the employer's policy at issue.

A policy that prohibited the use of corporate email for personal/non-business purposes (Law Memo, 2017)

Determine why the policy was challenged.

The policy was enforced for union email activities but not for other non-business emails (e.g. baby announcements, etc.) (Law Memo, 2017).

Compare and contrast the General Counsel's and the employer-Respondent's arguments

The plaintiff asserted that the enforcement of the policy was retaliation for union-organizing activities. The defense asserted that the enforcement was consistent with the policy. The judge actually agreed with the latter but came down against the employer because they were not consistent in enforcing the policy for EVERYONE that deviated from the policy, for whatever reason (Law Memo, 2017).

D. Analyze the implications of the decision.

Such policies are acceptable but must be enforced across the board, not selectively (on purpose or on accident). Either NO non-business emails are acceptable or they ALL are. It cannot be in between. The employer cannot selectively choose when the policy is to be enforced and/or punished for (Law Memo, 2017).

He offers to sell the equipment to Bill for $10,000.
• Discuss the legal effects of any two (2) of the following events on the offer: Use the Internet to research the law in your home state (Virginia) on the purchase of personal property. Discuss the law in your home state, and compare and contrast it with the Statute of Frauds.

1. Cane dies prior to Bill's acceptance, and at the time he accepts, Bill is unaware of Cane's death.

• If indeed the contract is accepted and Cane was not aware of the death first, the sale would typically be binding. The caveat, of course, is whether or not Bill could prove that the offer was made, that he accepted it and/or that he did so WITHOUT knowing that Cane was dead before acceptance. Indeed, so long as Bill could prove the first two and the estate of Cane, if they felt inclined, tried to disprove the latter, the sale would be upheld, up to and including with the estate and other proceedings after Cane's death. Bill would just have to file against the estate, of course offering proof of the correspondence including a timeline of when the offer was extended, when it was accepted and, if possible, when…

Cultural relativism contends that no one culture possesses a more correct value system than any other. "There is no one standard set of morals," Sullivan (2006) argues, which one can use as a base to: "objectively judge all cultures, so comparing morality between cultures -- which retain independent and distinct histories and influences -- is basically futile" (¶ 9). As the movement is rooted in the world community's response to

In this regard, Lott points out, "Between 70% and 80% of police departments explicitly use norming of physical standards in their hiring practices. However, most of the departments that use objective standards do not enforce these rules. Women who fail to meet the absolute standards during academy training are unlikely to be failed out of the program" (p. 276). This lack of consistency in how these standards are applied

Q: Do you think continual education and/or training in police ethics would reduce incidents of police corruption? A: Again, it depends entirely on the type of continual education and training we're talking about: repeating simplistic ethical training scenarios originally presented in the academy is even less effective with respect to seasoned police veterans than with respect to rookies or trainees. On the other hand, if we're talking about a well-designed

Cannabis in the UK: De-Penalisation, Decriminalisation, or Legalisation? In October of 2015, the Parliament of the United Kingdom was forced to debate whether the current prohibition on cannabis should end in some way. "Forced" is the correct word here, because Parliament seems otherwise unwilling to address the issue, but in this case it was obliged by its own policy, whereby any petition signed by at least one hundred thousand people must

China's One Child Policy Historically, it is noted that Mao Zedong, once a China president encouraged population growth which saw the population of China almost double during that period of his leadership. This led to overpopulation and the stretching of the social amenities and most importantly the economy. In order to address this challenge, the one -- child policy was introduced in China. First of all, the number of people being arrested "is far lower than the number of crimes being committed," an indication that placing repeat and habitual offenders in prison for longer periods of time has decreased the arrest rate. Second, some crime analysts have estimated that keeping repeat and habitual offender in prison has lowered crimes by individuals by as much as fifteen crimes per year which when multiplied
