Understanding Men’s and Women’s Eating Habits Various studies conducted and even opinions among the people confirm that men and women have different eating habits. When couples get married, they say “I do” for many things and signing up for a lifetime of togetherness goes hand in hand with signing up for shared eating habits. In most cases, couples will always have a great impact when it comes to one another’s dietary patterns. Therefore, their eating behavior has been affected by those who are around their circles, but for couples, it trickles down to their shared environment. Men and women exhibit distinguishable eating habits of their preferences, eating schedules, dietary programs, and socialization.

A couple eating in a restaurant show their different eating preferences by choice of meals they order. The man is more likely to eat meat and poultry products such as veal, duck, and ham plus shellfish such as oysters and shrimp. As for the wife, she is more inclined to order fruits and vegetables such as carrots and cucumber among others. For example, my nephew likes eating burgers whereas my niece enjoys eating fruit salads. From this angle, it is evident that eating habits between men and women in the society start from a very early age. For a working couple, the husband tends to eat fast foods for lunch while the wife will look at having smaller portions of fruits for lunch like raspberries, strawberries, apples, and blueberries. Walnuts and almonds are also dry foods mostly preferred by a wife and would ask the husband to bring her some from the supermarket. For breakfast, a wife is more likely to enjoy consuming yogurt and eggs as compared to the husband who would prefer eating leftover food from dinner. Ice cream and chocolate are cravings of most married women while the men would go for 'warm, hearty, meal-related comfort foods' like casseroles and steak in the company of other men as they watch a football match.

The gender difference in eating habits has become even more pronounced with the...

The wife is keener on having her schedules adhered to, and when it comes to eating, it becomes more personal. Such squabble when it comes to food is dangerous because it can leave emotional scars that can end up tearing the couple over the long haul. In such instances, the wife and husband have forgotten that they connect with food because it is not only meant for bodily nourishment. For most couples, they start out great by cooking together and enjoying the mealtime, but suddenly, the wife decides to put schedules on their eating. This prompts many couples to start eating alone because they want to enjoy their preferences and this makes their connection to dwindle.
The eating styles of men and women are also different because women will tend to take in smaller bites as compared to men. Moreover, the intake period for a woman is longer than that of a man because a woman is more feminine as she gets more concerned about her outward appearance. Therefore, she prefers taking in smaller portions of food to keep her physical look intact and manageable regarding weight gain matters. On the other hand, a man does not like eating slowly or smaller portions because he claims that he uses much energy and the kind of work he engages in does not allow him to eat small food portions.

The other surprising aspect of gender difference in eating habits relates to the fact that the wife is more likely to enroll in dietary programs, unlike the husband. The different diets tried by a woman relates to losing weight have elaborated that the light eating pattern would consist of lowered food consumption throughout the week. Even for their healthier food options like fruits, vegetables, and grains, a woman would try as much as possible to inflict the same on the husband. In most cases, this would not be accommodated by the husband because it is not something shared across the various social relationships. As such, the wife ends up getting angry…
