Strengths and Requirements for PhD Program

With reference to Nimer (2009), the cohort-founded doctoral program provides its associates with an essential part of both expert and individual support for intellectual dealings and degree conclusion. In such shared learning societies, teachers are of the same opinion that development of a robust expert and social network amidst the professors and learners shall positively influence the learners' performance (Bista & Cox, 2014).

The focus is deliberating on King's work in the 21st century. I, being an active participant in social injustice matters, possess actual deep concern in imprisonment or poverty, and wish to actively participate in altering the globe via my community on a day-to-day basis (Stone, 2014). Several crucial and rewarding subjects in the study of man, their social behavior and organizations, as well as their biological and physical surrounding do not lie wholly in the limits of any particular social science discipline.

While individually unique, the behavioral, social, and economic science disciplines where the learners in this major build their programs jointly, develop a closely interconnecting set of guidelines, having several shared basic points and notions of origin. Every discipline changes and complements the theoretical viewpoints and results of the others (MSU, n.d.). I am a part of several boards in the U.S. and South Africa and have been working with kids and women for quite some time.

I also adopted a girl that was abandoned when she was just six months old. She is presently eleven years of age. The cohort design possesses strengths like intellectual, interpersonal and emotional advantages. According to the reviews by Lewis et al. (2010), the advantages of this model are identified as enhancing more unity in cohorts through the generation of mutual protection and support; enhanced rates of graduation; decreased abrasion; and, the establishment of academically motivating surroundings, whereby research learning is made easy.

Moreover, it was found that cohort members have chances for the development of conference papers and co-author manuscripts for publications among others (Govender & Dhunpath, 2010). As a skilled member of the board in both South Africa and America, I have plenty of experience in the preparation of numerous conference papers, in addition to the leadership qualities, which would assist me to serve comparable requirements of the degree.

As a graduate in Business Management, I have learned diverse economical courses, marketing and leadership management skills that have assisted me all through the management encounters in my life. I possess management and leadership qualities that would be of great significance for me to go through with the PhD program. Disciplines grant several advantages, at least by putting limits around knowledge bodies that aid effective teaching, and offers direction regarding adequate methods and concepts. Quality could frequently be more readily examined against disciplinary criterion.

The world of practice and guidelines rises above disciplinary divides; dealing with research difficulties that address complicated issues requires a change to conventional discipline-founded strategies of research. In wider terms, interdisciplinary research would motivate me towards addressing practical problem solving or improving the knowledge. These dissimilar approaches shall differ with regards to what inspires the researchers conducting the job and shall possess different expected results.

In the situation of complicated issues, for example societal, where the objectives or results might be more open-ended and entail the widening of present knowledge structures, there might be more doubt with regards to time period, advantages, contributions and yields (Lyall, Williams, & Meagher, 2009).
