Strengths/Weaknesses
I feel as though I have a lot of strengths, especially for the workplace. I was raised with a strong work ethic, first and foremost. I'm not afraid to work hard if it is needed. But I am also intelligent, articulate, and passionate. Get me involved in something I love and I can conquer the world. My analytical sense is very strong, so I can solve problems and work through solutions. I have decent interpersonal skills, too, which combined with the other skills I think gives me strong leadership potential. In terms of weaknesses, I like to think that I don't have too many. I don't have a lot of experience, and doubtless that will hold me back, but gaining experience is part of the process of improving. I am not the sort who can work with just anybody. Personally, I think this is fine, if I have trouble dealing with people who aren't putting in the effort that looks good on me. I don't "go along to get along," and while that's caused me problems on some entry-level jobs, I like to think that I will not spend my career pursuing those sorts of positions anyway. My skills are more in line with higher-level positions and leadership roles, so deficiencies in areas that are not essential to those positions I can live with.
Looking at job ads, a lot of positions do talk about things like teamwork and communication skills, in addition to the technical requirements of the job. Companies are not looking for rogue agents, they want people who can work well within their system. In the right role, I work very well in just about any system. Some job postings are relatively vague about roles and expectations, and those postings worry me. I am a little bit dogmatic in that I like to know what my role is, and what is expected of me. In times of uncertainty, I look to those around me, but it is better if I have a clear sense of my role within an organization.
