The approach to forming a group would be the manual selection of the group members since a group of culturally diverse adolescent females needs to be present for this purpose. A fixed quota of culturally diverse females could be selected, for instance, 3 adolescent females that are American, 3 adolescent females who are African American, 3 Hispanic adolescent females, and so on. This method could help reduce bias in the inclusion in order to ensure that an equal number of culturally diverse adolescent females is included in the group counseling sessions.

Since adolescent females from diverse ethnic backgrounds are to be included, the age group that should be taken into account is from 10 years to 19 years. This is the specific age that could be counted in as being a ‘minor’. Research suggests that there is a particular manner of taking decisions related to selection, recruitment, and screening of the human participants of a group counseling who are minor, or in this case, adolescents (DeLucia-Waack, 2006, p. 50). Their confidentiality and informed consent should be prioritized to gain their trust, which is conducive to gaining positive results out of an effective group session. Some of the criteria, for this reason, are taking parental consent is important, siblings cannot be in the same group, females of age difference of two years would help represent each age member, and having at least group member with whom a member can emotionally connect so that building of role model is facilitated.

The age group that needs working on is the adolescent females, aging from 10 to 19 years of age. The setting would be that of school. The process of establishing the group at the site would encompass describing the goal of group formation, assembling the group members, explaining the goals of the group, and setting expectations for individuals and the entire group.

Keeping multicultural consideration at the forefront of decision-making, one theoretical orientation that could be used during group counseling could be solution-focused groups. The solution-focused theory revolves around the viewpoint of social constructionism (citation from the customer-provided book). The theory is built on the perspective that time and cultural knowledge should be prioritized for assessing individuals’ views of the world who speak different languages are from varied backgrounds. The cultural conversations taking place in such a group would help discern the social constructionist paradigm for giving meaning to the challenges encountered on the basis of cultural awareness and related truth.
