¶ … transfer from Joliet Junior College to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaigne will provide a wide variety of new academic and extra curricular opportunities. With its excellent national ranking and highly effective job placement, the School of Business is an ideal setting for me to continue my studies and complete my undergraduate degree.
I am particularly interested in pursing a degree in Business Administration with a focus in International Business, and the Study Abroad program at University of Illinois will offer me hands-on experience with international business practices. In addition, I am particularly interested in participating in student organizations related to international business, such as International Association of Students in Economic and Business Management. The University of Illinois has a more diverse student body than my current institution, so I am confident that I will be exposed to a wider variety of peers in my courses at the school of business. This diversity will better inform my future practice in international business.
I am extremely impressed by the University's career development programs and job placement services, and I plan to use these resources to secure an internship between my first and second year of study. My employment objective is to secure a management position with a company that operates both domestically and in the European market, and I am confident that the University's career services will assist me during this process.
My long-term goals include graduate studies, and, as such, I am applying to transfer from my current associates degree program into a B.A. degree program. This transfer will allow me to study a great deal of specialized course material in the area of international business, preparing me for my subsequent graduate study. My current degree program can't offer the same specialization or academic advancement.
While the move from Joliet to Urbana isn't a drastic geographic change, it will offer me a chance to experience a different community and a larger academic setting. This experience will help me prepare for the challenges of traveling and living abroad. I also intend to complete my graduate studies in an another state or country, and, as such, I want to begin to move outside of my current geographic area and challenge myself with new experiences.
