Experiences and lessons learned in academic writing research

Self-Reflection:

Writing the proposal, annotated bibliography, and research argument on overfishing in the Pacific Ocean has been an exciting and challenging process. The exciting aspects of this task originate from the lessons and skills I have gained regarding the topic and on conducting research. This task has also provided me with a new perspective regarding the problem of overfishing across the globe, especially in the Pacific Ocean. On the contrary, this process has also had several complexities including the scarcity of previous researches that have been carried out regarding the issue. Most of the documented aspects on the issue of overfishing basically focus on the impact of the issue on Pacific island nations from an economic perspective. As a result, it was challenging to find resources that specifically address the issue in light of its increased practice in the Pacific Ocean.

Learned Experiences:

The process of writing an annotated bibliography, proposal, and research argument on the issue of overfishing in the Pacific Ocean has enabled me to learn some experiences. These experiences have particularly involved the required strengths and endured struggles in addressing an issue with such magnitude. Some of the major aspects of the experiences I have learned in this process include & #8230;

In-Depth Analysis:

In-depth analysis is the major strength I have required as part of the learning experiences in the process of writing the papers. This strength has mainly been contributed by the fact that the problem of overfishing in the Pacific Ocean has not been examined by many researchers in the past. The scarcity of such resources contributed to the need to conduct a thorough evaluation and analysis of the issue of overfishing across the globe and in the Pacific islands in order to obtain insights on the extent and effect of the problem in the Pacific Ocean. Actually, without the ability to perform an in-depth analysis on the topic, it would be very difficult to develop a research article on the issue and understand the magnitude of the problem.

The process of carrying out an in-depth analysis has basically involved identifying previous resources on the global trend of overfishing in the past few decades. This was followed by the identification of studies that focus on the issue across the Pacific island. The studies on the global trend of overfishing in the past five decades have provided an understanding of the increase of overfishing in the Pacific Ocean. On the other hand, studies on the issue across the Pacific island have helped in understanding the extent of this practice in the Pacific Ocean. Moreover, the studies have been instrumental in providing insights on the effects of the practice on the Pacific island nations and across the globe. Through in-depth analysis of these studies, I have also been able to identifying the potential measures and solutions for addressing the issue.

Scarcity of Resources:

On the contrary, the learning experience while writing the papers has involved a major challenge of finding previous studies conducted on this issue. As previously mentioned, many researchers have only examined the problem of overfishing from a global perspective and from its practice in the Pacific island region. Actually, I could only identify one research article that focused on the problem of overfishing in the Pacific Ocean specifically. However, the article did not address the issue exhaustively, which resulted in the need to incorporate other studies that were related to the topic.

Research Problems and Complexities:

While examining the issue of overfishing in the Pacific Ocean, there were two major research problems and complexities emanating from the struggles and challenges I had to endure in the process. These major problems and complexities include & #8230;

Developing Appropriate Research Questions:

The ability to carry out an effective research on any given topic is partly dependent on the development of appropriate research questions that guide the process. While examining this issue, one of the major research problems and complexities was developing the appropriate research questions to analyze the problem. This complexity was partly fueled by the seeming inability to locate resources that could help in developing the paper. In this case, there was a huge need to develop research questions that were specifically targeted on the topic rather than questions that are broad in nature and perspective. This process was also complicated by the need to develop the questions in light of the global trend in fisheries catches and the causes of overfishing across the globe.

Integrating Available Information:

The second major research complexity and problem is associated with the need to integrate the available information on the issue. The complexity of integrating the available information on the problem is attributed to the lack of studies and documents that specifically focus on overfishing in the Pacific Ocean. The need for integrating available information originated from the need to combine information on the global trend of fisheries catches with information of overfishing in the Pacific island region. As a result, the development of the research argument mainly involved the integration of information rather than focusing directly on the topic.

New Perspective:

While the process of writing the papers has been accompanied by several struggles and research complexities and problems, engaging in this process has enabled me to gain new perspectives on the issue of overfishing. This process has enabled me to glean insights on the causes of overfishing worldwide and the trend of fisheries catches in the Pacific island region and globally. In this case, I have learned that this problem is mainly attributed to the rising food insecurity in the world, especially because of global warming. As a result of the increase in food insecurity, many people throughout the world are increasing turning to fish populations in order to meet their need for food. As more and more people are turning to fish populations, fisheries catches are increasingly rapidly to an extent that the issue of overfishing is one of the major threats across the globe together with global warming and terrorism.
