Why You Shouldn’t Wait Until the Last Minute to Write an Essay

From the onset, it would be prudent to note that in some instances, students wait until the very last minute to write their essay projects. A student could in some instances lack time to write an essay due to a wide range of commitments. This is especially the case in those instances whereby one has multiple fixed tasks to accomplish on a daily basis, i.e. familiar roles and work-related responsibilities (i.e. for those who are employed). It would, however, be prudent to note that in some instances, poor time-keeping habits get in the way of writing essays in good time. Waiting until the last minute to write an essay could have a number of repercussions.

To begin with, there is a high likelihood of conducting poor research given the limited time one has remaining to submit an essay. Researching the relevant material for an essay is often a time-consuming undertaking. This is more so the case given that one has to look for relevant, reliable, and current resources on which to rely upon. Thus, when one is time-bound, quality research becomes a luxury that is rather difficult to afford. This could inevitably result in poor grades.

It should also be noted that the essence of an essay is to develop a learner’s proper understanding of crucial principles and concepts. When a learner does not have adequate time to write an essay, the result is an attempt to gloss over the relevant content and quickly piece together something to present to the instructor. This does not benefit the learner in the long-term – i.e. in relation to the development of practical knowledge for deployment in real-life settings.
