The history of Yamaha goes all the way back to 1887. It was during this year in Japan that Torakusu Yamaha founded the company as a producer of reed organs. The original name of the company was Nippon Gakki Company, Ltd. The company had a great success with its reed organs in Japan. For two decades, sales were strong.
