Aluminum Shoes for the Performance Horse
There is a large debate among animal rights experts over the correct way in which to treat and handle animals. Some believe that the best way to treat horses is through natural means; that is to say without the use of shoes of any type of material. Such debates are subjective and thus very difficult to prove objectively one way or another. Among other topics which are subject to debate and subsequent discussion is whether or not the material that is used in the creation of a horse shoe has any effect on whether that horse shoe is helpful to the animal on which the shoe is attached. It has been ascertained that the first horse shoes were designed to improve the longevity of a horse's ability to work and to increase the individual animal's performance in any field in which the animal is…

Dangers of Aluminum Bats
hen asked about the use of aluminum bats, high school baseball coach, Gene Schultz, said he knew that because of the durability of metal that they were going to last, but he did not think that they would take over the high school baseball scene as they have (High pp). Personally, Schultz said he would like to see high school ball do what the college have done and go back to "good 'ol wood ... cracked bats, broken bat singles and inside pitches are all part of true baseball" (High pp). According to Schultz, metal bats have certainly increased the offense in high school baseball, but if they were really good for the sport, then the Major Leagues would be using them (High pp). He adds that bunts have gone for doubles, inside pitches for home runs, and a 95-pound freshman can hit a baseball 350+…

Correlations Density Mechanical Properties Porous Alloys
In the recent years, various developments have been made concerning the manufacturing methods used in the production of foams from aluminum alloys. The results of various tests conducted indicate that closed cell powder-route aluminum foams are among the strongest and stiffest commercial aluminum foams in the market. Additionally, the tests showed that aluminum foams have low density and are attractive in that they are attractive materials for the cores of sandwich tubes, shells, and panels (Mccullough et al. 2323). Aluminum foams have many other desiring properties including good electrical conductivity, high-energy absorption, high fire retardance, relatively low thermal conductivity, and high acoustic damping. The main aim of this research study was to determine comprehensive and tensile properties of aluminum closed cell foams and interpreting the properties in relation cell wall and microstructure properties.
The materials used in the study were flat plates of aluminum…
Information regarding aluminum shoeing practices and benefits is highly limited, but the research nevertheless presents an interesting and highly specific application for the type of shoe in question. In combination with other research, this study could be used to show the broader medical advantages of aluminum shoes.

This experimental research article provides the results and analysis of a direct experimental comparison between steel and aluminum horseshoes in terms of how the horses leg and specifically the horses knees move when wearing different types of shoes. The results give clear indicators for which types of performance or typical functions are best accomplished with aluminum shoes, going into a fair amount of technical detail in making this assessment. Generally speaking, a larger carpal angle and an evident relieving of tension was observed in horses with aluminum rather than steel shoes, suggesting many different performance enhancements can be achieved with the use of aluminum shoes. This source provides very specific information that can be directly used in answering the research question.
Koepsich, W. (1996). Using Aluminum Shoes on Quarter Horses. Anvil Magazine. Accessed 22 March 2012. http://www.anvilmag.com/farrier/usalsonq.htm l Perhaps the most directly and entirely on point of the resources selected, this article has a slight failing in that it does not provide direct research data in coming to the conclusions that are drawn. This is not to say that the data does not exist, and the author has been a researcher and practitioner in the field for many years and was a pioneer in the use of aluminum horseshoes (at least in the United States), however he does not present direct research results here. Instead, a brief history and extensive overview of the use of aluminum horseshoes is provided in this article, with a great deal of specific information. More research will be required to substantiate this research, but the claims provide excellent grounds for investigation and the building of a more detailed research question.
Monopolies and Trusts:
Appropriate Areas for Government Intervention?
Capitalism is the economic system that has dominated the United States virtually since the day of its independence. A social and economic system based on the recognition of individual rights; capitalism demands that owners' rights to control, enjoy, and dispose of their own property must be respected. In a capitalist system, the purpose of government is to protect individual economic rights, and to make sure that no one individual, or group may employ physical or coercive force upon any other group or individual. The success of capitalism is well evident. The surpluses that this system produces have enabled individuals to experiment; to create new products, and market new ideas. These private surpluses are traded in a free market in direct competition with other buyers and sellers. Such competition is best represented by the efforts of two or more parties acting independently to…
Total Quality Management in Emirates Global Aluminum Company
Total Quality Management (TQM)
TQM is a method of enhancing the competitive advantage of the organization in pursuit of a significant market share to increase the profit margins of the organization. This is primarily done through effective leadership. It entails managerial functions such as; coordination, staffing, control, organizing, and planning. Furthermore, TQM requires proactive and strategic leadership in executing these quality control measures.
Every business entity or project comprises of internal and external customers. The internal customers are the workers of the organization while the external customers are the clients. Clients are of varied nature. There are those who are linked to the business directly. Others are linked indirectly. The indirect customers are the shareholders of the company.
As a management principle, TQM is geared towards improving the production process and also satisfying people. The primary goals of TQM are to ensure…

Alusaf also must not forget that if it continues with the smelter plan, there is a likelihood of long tern benefits because once the Russian aluminum runs out and there is no more supply, Alusaf would again dominate the market and the smelter project would keep producing aluminum for a long time thus serving and meeting the needs and demands of the people of SA long after Russians have left.
CONS:
The one major setback that Alusaf can face is short-term profits decline. We understand that with the presence of cheaper aluminum in the market, it is more than possible than Alusaf's aluminum would not find the same reception it did before. This means lower profits as demand for expensive aluminum declines.
The short-term decline in profits would be aggravated due to the fact that Alusaf had already invested a huge sum of money in the development of this smelter.…
Aunt Gladys / Chemistry
Yo, Dude! (That's how we would say "Howdy, Aunt Gladys!" here at college.)
Thanks for your letter and the $2.00 you sent with it. Probably this weekend I will go out and buy myself something nice, like you suggested.
I am glad you and Uncle Wilbur are well. Everything is good here at school. I am pretty busy and I am learning a lot. Especially chemistry.
I'm happy to be able to answer your question for you. You asked how come the tin foil melted overnight on your meatloaf. Don't worry, nothing is wrong with your refrigerator and you and Uncle Wilbur will not have to get a new one. And no, it wasn't because you snuck some ground turkey in there because the doctor told Uncle Wilbur he needs to start watching his cholesterol. It's actually because of the ketchup. Now, don't go writing a…

Wheeled Coach implements ABC analysis.
A firm using the ABC system segregates its inventory into three groups, A, B, and C. The A group constitutes the most costly or slowest turning items of inventory. It approximates 10% of the inventory items that account for 70% of the firm's investment. The B. group is the next largest amount of investment and consists of 20% of the items accounting for about 20% of the firm's investment. The C. group is the largest group of cheapest material consisting of about 70% of the firm's times and accounts for about only 10% of the firm's investment. Washers, screws, and nails would, for instance, be in this group.
As regards Wheeled Coach, the 'A' items are the expensive items such as the chassis (usually purchased from Ford), aluminum (from eynolds Metal), and plywood used for flooring and cabinetry (from local suppliers). These few items are…

Negotiations can be preferred over competitive bidding because significant cost advantages can be gained through this process which might be available through competitive bidding. When bidding is open to a large number of suppliers, the winner doesn't bother to negotiate because he has won fair and square and the buyer now has the obligation to buy from on his terms. That can be avoided with the use of negotiation method.
Epsilon's alternative proposal should be considered seriously because while it may have limitations, it is not entirely a bad choice and may offer certain advantages otherwise not possible. For one, it allows requirements contract to be imposed which means the supplier would be the only party fulfilling all orders for a certain time period. The supplier would be interested in providing the best quality so that he doesn't lose the account and the trust of the buyer. uhling can stop…

The assumptions of industry structure and pricing are based on the market shares of the leading competitors in the motorcycle market including Harley-Davidson with 65% and Honda with 12.9%. There are over 40 different manufacturers of motorcycles globally who comprise the remaining 22% of the worldwide market (Murphy, 2008). Gaining distribution for a new motorcycle model will be challenging given the concentration level of competitors in the market. As motorcycles are considered discretionary purchases, they are influenced by the consumer sentiment index, the level of per capita disposable income, the downstream demand for motorcycle dealership and repair, and the available time consumers have for using them (Diamond, 2008). All of these factors are taken into account in the factoring of both the baseline motorcycle industry forecast and the hybrid motorcycle forecast as well.

Human Resources -- Controlling Benefits Costs: Employing Contingent orkers, HRM Outsourcing
Employers have found that health insurance benefit costs are best controlled while making them attractive to current and prospective employees by offering multiple options and by encouraging/implementing the use of generic drugs. This is wise, as compensation plans directly impact strategic goal setting and achievement. The Human Resources Department spends considerable resources aiding in this process, as it directly affects talent acquisition, employee retention, job satisfaction, employee productivity and strong employer-employee relations.

Iso-Electric Point and Iron Content in Iron Hydroxide Impregnated Aluminosilicate-Based Geopolymers
Rahil Abou Saleh
Dr. Kiril Hristovski
Iron hydroxide impregnated aluminosilicate-based geopolymers (Fe-ASG) is a novel water treatment media currently under development for simultaneous removal of arsenic and inorganic contaminants. The goal of this study was to determine whether varied iron contents impregnated aluminosilicate impacts the surface charge in different pH conditions. The study tests for media types of virgin and iron impregnated ASG diluted in potassium nitrate (KNO3) for charge dispersion. pH of the sample was gradually adjusted using potassium hydroxide (KOH) and nitric acid (HNO3). Results demonstrated no significant relationship between iron content impregnated ASG and iso electric point, which suggests that surface area properties impacts the relationship.
I am especially appreciative of the guidance, encouragement, and patience exuded by Dr. Hristovski throughout the duration of this research project. Also I would like to give special thanks to…

Corrosion Control by Coating
Using appropriate coating methods, galvanic corrosion of metal surfaces can be avoided. For example titanium surfaces are plated with cadmium and primed before they are attached to aluminum surfaces. The aluminum alloy surface is typically coated with corrosion inhibiting primers such as Skydrol-resistant epoxies. efore applying the coating the surface is anodized using phosphoric acid anodizer. [Gerhardus H. Koch] the most poplar method of corrosion prevention however is the use of chromate surface treatments of the aluminum structures. Using hexavalent-chromium compounds for surface coating is however an environmentally unsound practice as chromium is well-known as a highly toxic and carcinogenic agent. The U.S. air force has done extensive research to find…

Will the sponsors be able to finance the deal?
The timing of this investment is important, and it is not covered in any depth in the case. That is because there is a significant increase in the number of countries where political risk is declining, but several countries (such as Argentina) provided negative surprises that made banks less willing to lend.
The case deals primarily with banks, but does not cover strategic investors, or banks aligned with strategic investors. This author believes that the economics of the deal can appeal to banks on a global basis, and the deal will therefore be financed.

This study demonstrates that different total P. fraction releases may differ between two bodies of water under similar oxygen conditions (Kisand & Noges, 2003). This study is important in that it highlights the complexity of understanding P. fractions in any given body of water. There are a multitude of potential reactions in any body of water. Oxygen plays a role in the reactions of any individual lake, but one cannot make predictions based on oxygen level alone.
Shallow lakes differ from stratified lakes in many ways. A stratified lake typically reaches equilibria in such a manner that it becomes divided into regions. This is not the case with shallow lakes. With a shallow lake, the entire lake may change from clear water to macrophyte dominated to algae dominated, each phase has its own state of equilibrium (Dokulil & Teubner, 2003). ecycling, educing, eusing
The items I identified as being recyclable during the week under consideration include: plastic bottles, steel cans, and paper cups. The total population of the community/subdivision currently stands at 2,000 people. This effectively means that if every member of the community in which I live recycles an exact amount of trash as I did for only 7 days, my area would be able to recycle 34,000 (17*2000) plastic bottles, 36,000 (18*2000) steel cans, and 28,000 (14*2000) paper cups. Assuming that each year has a total of 52 weeks, this means that the community would save 1,768,000 (34,000*52) plastic bottles, 1,872,000 (36,000*52) steel cans, and 1,456,000 (28,000*52) paper cups per annum.
In my opinion, my community does not recycle enough. This is particularly the case given that the recycling program in place is not as efficient as it ought to be. There are various ways through which the…

As compared to carbon steel, the development of high speed steel has many advantages over carbon and is therefore more popular in high speed applications (lack, 2010).
This type of steel works due to several very important factors such as the type of metals used, high treatment temperatures and its ability to melt metals. eing an alloy that combines several metals, high speed steel can be kept hard even under extreme temperatures because the steel can provide heat resistance. The steel also remains hard even under intensive high temperatures due to the high temperature treatment.
This steel is an alloy which combines several metals such as tungsten, molybdenum, chromium, cobalt and others. The most commonly used type of steel in high speed steel products is tungsten. Nonetheless, various types and designations of high speed steel exist with each of these steels having their own special combinations. Due to its ability…

As the lack of work sharing in: the design process and outsourcing of manufacturing of components, contributed to the flaws on the aircraft. (the 787 Family 2011)
When you step back and analyze the work sharing arrangement of the 777 and 787, it is clear that this played a major role in determining the success of the plane. As the increased amounts of collaboration and keeping component production in house produced: the innovations and quality that the 777 is known for. While the 787, has less collaboration and outsourced most of the component production (which contributed to the underlying problems affecting the aircraft). As a result, the work sharing arrangement during the design and manufacturing process would play an important part in determining the number of design flaws that were occurring.

State Domination and Financial Markets
The Chinese government has characterized its involvement in economic development as "serving rather than supervising the private economy" since 2008 (Xinhua, 2009). ith this shift in focus a number of changes to Chinese management can be expected. The paternalistic approach will remain, as it is part of Chinese culture, but there will be further estern influences, particularly with respect to the desire outcomes of management behavior.
In their efforts to serve business, the Chinese government will inevitably work harder to attract foreign investment and to allow business to set the terms by which they can seek investors. This will shift the desired outcomes of management behavior towards those sought by a wider range of investors, both domestic and foreign. Asia Aluminum provides an example of this, as foreign investor outcry over the bond scandal forced the company to consider other options. Management at that point…

Steel can create a very durable and rugged car that will often outlast the animals that are drawing it. However aluminum is as durable and element resistant as well as being extremely lightweight and is often the material of choice for many countries. Pneumatic or inflatable tires also have been a boon to carts by helping to absorb some shock as well as to distributing the weight over a wider surface without significantly increasing drag on the vehicle.
Aluminum casting is already a technique that is widely used in many parts of Africa and other developing countries. Africa, usually to make cooking utensils and the like. EP Fail and Succeed
In order to increase its productivity and compete favorably, any company has to implement an elaborate Enterprise esource Planning (EP) system. Failure to do this will lead into a weak company without high possibilities of attained stipulated short-term and long-term goals. By definition, an EP system helps consolidate enterprise information and control all business processes in an organization. Implementing an EP successfully is not that simple. Its success or failure is depended on a variety of factors hence starting the process without an elaborate plan makes you vulnerable to a great number of snares along the way (Vinatoru & Calota, 2014).
Since an EP focuses on integration and management, the company stands a better chance at making resource usage and distribution more elaborate and timely. This will in turn increase the company's reputation, and hence, competitive edge in the market. Despite the fact this is a…

Vedanta believed that the company overall was undervalued; Hewitt was trying to avoid the loss of a major segment of business.
Overall, merger and acquisition activity has been relatively slow in recent years. However, firms are still trying to find ways to defend their position (GM, Hewitt) and other firms are attempting to creatively extract new value through their transactions (Exxon, a-B/InBev, Vedanta). As long as there are shifting environmental considerations and new opportunities to exploit, firms will continue to seek out merger and acquisition activities.

Demand and supply are the core concepts of economics and these are what determine the price of any given item. When demand of a certain item increases, it is usually followed by a corresponding increase in supply. And thus the price is affected. However there are times when demand increases more sharply than supply and this causes price to move up. In any case, price is directly dependent on supply and demand trends of a commodity. Price elasticity of demand refers to the economic condition when any change in price of a good and service generates some kind of response in its demand. When demand is affected by price, we know that quantity demanded is elastic. On the other hand when demand remains constant or change in price produces insignificant change in quantity demanded, we consider it a price inelastic situation. When a firm wants to change the price of…

Causes of Chronic Bronchitis in Workers
This review shows the literature and research available in the issue of respiratory diseases and the various occupations. The review shows that there is a pressing need to evaluate and conduct research in the known areas like coal, cement, and pesticides, but alarmingly agriculture and other industries have also to be included.
It is not only the factories that are hazardous. There are arguments to show that even farming can cause allergies. osenman (2012) in viewing "respiratory hazards that farmers and family members" argues that the grains that can be "contaminated with fungi, bacteria or microbial toxins; pesticides; solvents; gasoline and diesel fuels; and irritant gases such as oxides of nitrogen and ammonia." This may lead to occupational asthma and the allergens in such cases could be grain dust, cow dander, cow urine, egg yolk proteins, alternaria, aspergillus, cladosporium, meal worm, poultry mites, fungi,…

Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydro Power Plant Disaster
Company Background
Sayano -- Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station is geographically located on the Yenisei iver, near Sayanogorsk in Khakassia, ussia. It was the largest hydro electrical power plant in ussian and sixth largest hydro electrical power station in the world, until the accident has occurred. The plant was operated by usHydro, which was established in December 2004 during ussia's privatization movement, however about 60% of its shares are owned by ussian government. The milestone of usHydro operation was that it has recorded the satiation's all-time highest electricity output in 24 hours (usHydro, July 2009). usHydro has 55 hydro plants with the installed capacity of 25.4 GW. The annual energy generation recorded by Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station was about 23.4 TWh, which was almost one-quarter of that produced by usHydro's resources for the Unified Energy Systems of ussia and Siberia. The major consumer of the plant…

Criteria of buyer/investor on project type and location
A huge variety of CDM project locations, types and sizes exists and these are open to potential CDM investors. The national investment climate plus factors at the national level influence decisions on where, what type of projects to undertake as well as whether they ought to be developed as CDM projects. The investor's role in CDM project influences the physical spread of the CDM market. For instance, a technology provider who is offered payment partly via CE revenues may have a broad list of options of potential areas where to locate the project but a smaller choice of project type to engage in. Some funds set aside and intended for CDM funding have been decided upon as intended for specific project types and specific geographical areas. For example, the Spanish Carbon Fund directs its energies towards establishment of CDM projects in North…

If it is ingested it will pass through the human system without any ill effects. However silica is often associated with silicosis, a lung disease especially found in miners. The inhalation of fine silica dust in large enough quantities can lead to this disease. This is often the case in people who work in close proximity to large quantities of silica dist, such as in sandblasting. This process is explained succinctly as follows;
Silicosis is lung damage caused by breathing dust containing fine particles of crystalline silica. If silica particles are inhaled they become embedded in the lungs, the lung tissues react by developing fibrotic nodules and scarring around the trapped particles. The scare tissue makes the lungs hard and stiff. The scaring can greatly reduce the function of the lungs making it difficult and sometimes painful to breathe.

As mentioned above, silica is prevalent and even…

What is worth noting here is the fact that behavior disturbances, ranging in severity from repeated questioning to physical violence, are common (National Institute of Mental Health, 1989).
It is unclear whether Alzheimer's disease represents a single entity or several variants. Some experts believe that there are distinct subtypes of Alzheimer's disease, such as Lewy body disease (in which the signs of Parkinson's disease, visual hallucinations or alterations in alertness or attention, or all of these symptoms, are conspicuous) and frontotemporal dementia (in which disinhibition, misconduct or apathy, or all of these signs, are prominent). The well-established risk factors for Alzheimer's disease are age, a family history of the disease and Down syndrome (National Institute of Mental Health, 1989).

Mondragon Cooperative Corporation's Basic Principles. Four main factors stand out: 1) the Mondragon Cooperative Corporation's rapidly advancing concept of Work Environment, in accordance with Finance, 2) reasons people change and the nemesis which causes the ever-growing sense of improvement (perceived as advancement) in Retail, 3) Benefits of Autonomy and elf-Reliance in Industry, and 4) the self-determination from which all knowledge is based.
By all means, knowledge poses as the central theme by which these other elements find nourishment; without knowledge, a vital sense of comprehensive awareness, that on-top-of-it characteristic paramount to Mondragon would not exist as it stands.

The move from a mechanized and industrialized culture to a digital society has fundamentally modified what we consider these key-phrases: occupation, employment, profession, career, assignment, and vocation. Barrier to Entry: It is very difficult to enter the industry due to several factors:
First, a new firm will need to implement economic of scale to enjoy cost reduction and compete favourably within the industry. To establish economic of scale, a new firm will require huge capital investment ranging from several millions of dollar. Huge capital needed to enter the industry serves as a barrier for a new firm. More importantly, a new firm will need to overcome the tremendous marketing muscle to establish market presence within the industry, and entering into the industry requires substantial capital. Moreover, government regulation is another factor making entry into the industry very difficult. egulations such as Soft Drink Inter-brand Competition Act are making the new entry nearly impossible in the U.S. market.

By assembling all of the aforementioned parts, the casing, the switch, the contacts, the light source, and the reflector, along with batteries and a lens, a useful portable light source is to be had. The durable "plastic" or metallic casing holds the batteries, contact strips or springs made of some sort of thin conductive metal; provides a place to mount the slide, rocker, or pushbutton on/off switch; acts as a base upon which to fasten the "head" of the flashlight which contains the light source (usually incandescent), the lens (usually plastic or glass), and the shiny aluminum reflector. All of the above components combine to form a small, light emitting, electrical circuit which may be turned off or on as needed.

Based on current trends in beverage packaging, it is also reasonable to suggest that further innovations in nanotechnology will provide manufacturers with the ability to produce truly interactive beverage containers that can provide a wide range of product information (including the history of the temperature of which the beverage has been maintained), display different graphics and messages that change (like a slideshow), and perhaps even respond to individual questions from the consumer (Buzby 2010). In fact, according to this industry analyst, "In the beverage packaging sector alone, worldwide sales of products using nanotechnology grew almost six-fold in two years from $150 million in 2002 to $860 million in 2004" (Buzby 2010, p. 529). S. dollar is still weak (Triplett, 2003). This study will seek to determine how the weakening U.S. dollar will affect European markets and competitiveness with China, a main exporter to Western Europe at this time.
The conditions within the steel market in particular have been reported as declining for several years, but there is some evidence which suggests a change is occurring within the industry (Triplett, 2003). There is some evidence which suggests that domestic distributors might actually benefit from the weakening of the U.S. dollar, in fact it might enable further economic recovery (Triplett, 2003).
This study will seek to determine whether or not theses statements are valid, in order to determine the best possible avenue Europeans can take to remain competitive and U.S. manufacturers can take to help facilitate a more productive economy.

Layer Chromatography
Ink Analysis Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC)
Ink analysis has been known as the most significant process that is capable to divulge important information on queried documents. It is clear that inks are manufactured from an extensive variety of substances that tend to demonstrate extremely dissimilar reactions chemically. Due to the manner in which documents are important and it destruction is not containable, there has been a method that has been explored as the most potential means of differentiation of ink samples and this method is known as thin layer chromatography. This report is going to take us through the process of ink analysis by Thin Layer Chromatography which will be done in a Laboratory and the whole process is going to be demonstrated in the course of the paper. The report will also outline the background of thin layer chromatography highlighting its history as well as braking down…

Boron Composite Structures in Aviation
The purpose of this paper is to discuss, and analyze the development and application of boron composites in airframe structures.
BORON'S HISTORY
Compounds of boron, most notably from unfinished borax ore, known as Tincal, were exported from Tibet in olden times. Historically, boron has been used for refining gold and silver in Arabia, ceramic glazes in China, and embalming in Egypt.
During the 13th Century A.D., "Regular imports of Tincal (name derived from tincana, the Sanskrit word for borax), from the Far East into Europe began along trade routes taken by Marco Polo's caravans. The source of Tincal (Tibet) and its methods of production remained a secret closely guarded by Venetian traders for four centuries."
Boric acid, a mild antiseptic, was isolated in the laboratory by chemistry professor illiam Homberg in 1720 and was discovered also occurring naturally from steam vents in Tuscany, Italy. Sir…

Foreign Exchange
In November of 2012, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced that the Australian and Canadian dollars would be added to its list of reserve currencies. This status is the highest for any currency, and implies that the currency is a very reliable store of value. A reserve currency is backed by a nation's assets, like any fiat currency, but with reserve currencies there are also the conditions of good governance, economic diversification, free float and other such attributes that define the world's strongest and most widely-traded currencies. These are also currencies that are traded widely in their regions -- the Australian dollar is a reference currency in the South Pacific -- and they are held by foreign central banks as part of those banks' currency portfolios. The relative strength of the AUD and CAD has been cited as the reason for those currencies' popularity with central bankers, and…

architects in the 21st century is the issue of sustainability. Not only is there no consensus opinion on how to approach the issue of sustainability in academic circles but there is also no formula of integrating sustainability into architectural curriculum (Wright, 2003). This deficiency underscores an even more stressing problem, however: as Edwards and Hyett (2010) note, "the techniques and technologies of green design are now generally understood -- what is still lacking is an architecture profession which gives priority to ecological issues" (p. 5). In other words, there is no connection between the myriad academic approaches and the professional architectural life. Wheeler (2015) asserts that this issue is due to an inadequate definition of sustainable architecture. In the capitalistic, consumerist global environment of the 20th century, the concept of preservation and connectivity to nature was largely overshadowed by corporate demand and higher margins.
Yet the end of the 20th…

Pro-Vaccination: An Argument in Support of Vaccination
Introduction
In the past, there has been marked increase in the number of vaccinations recommended as more vaccines are developed in an attempt to rein in various diseases. Accompanying this increase has been parental concerns regarding the relevance and safety of the said vaccines. Apart from parents, various anti-vaccine proponents have also presented numerous and diverse arguments against vaccines. It should, however, be noted that the various concerns as well as arguments against vaccines have been countered by medical professionals who are of the opinion that the relevance of vaccines cannot be overstated in seeking to avert vaccine-preventable diseases. This text revisits this debate in an attempt to highlight not only the need, but also the significance and value of vaccines.
Discussion
To begin with, it is important to note that over time, developments in medicine and medical sciences have made it possible…

There is money in recycling waste. Within BC, homes, hospitals and many other institutions there are bound to be some items that are left to lie without use for years. These might just one day end up in the dumpsites. Cell phones, ink cartridges, broken refrigerators, broken down cars etc. could earn one money if taken for recycling (Midwest Fiber, 2009).
ecycling also creates jobs. There are many stages through which an aluminum can will go through. From collection from the recycle bins in BC, the driver, the carriers, the off loaders, the recycle plant operators, etc. all benefit from the recycling process. So as the environment will be conserved, there will be no loss of jobs at the same time.
ecycling also helps in building a strong economy. When…

The effects of liquids are not a factor in regional metamorphism as fluids cannot circulate due to the effects of pressure upon the rocks, which seal in the circulation of moisture. egional metamorphism occurs in areas of heavy tectonic activity, near the places where the earth's plates rub up against one another. "egional metamorphism can be subdivided into different pressure-temperature conditions based on observed sequences of mineral assemblages. It may include an extreme condition, where partial melting occurs" (Jessey & Tarman 2010). egional metamorphism is commonly found in mountain regions (hence the name regional metamorphism), consisting of foliated rocks developed under medium to high temperatures. "The accompanying pressures vary from low to high. Geothermal gradients, which are likewise moderate to high, produce Buchan and Barrovian Facies series. Because the pressures of Buchan and Barrovian Facies series are commonly higher than are those of Contact Facies Series, they may contain different…

A second major facto in the growing trend for a new greener industry is that these measures also represent a more efficient operation from a financial perspective as well. For instance, recycling aluminum cans on the job is an example of a sustainable practice that contributes in a positive way to the bottom line (Shepherd, 2009). ecycling aluminum cans on the jobsite help to feed the local economy as well. These new cost-cutting measures are necessary, as green construction typically drives up the price of a new home by 10% (Shepherd, 2009). Companies must take measures to reduce costs in as many areas as possible.
How Can These New Innovations Affect a Career in the Construction Industry?
Changes within the construction industry will have an impact on those involved in the industry of the future. These new innovations represent changes in attitude toward the job site, project flow and project…

Examples include gyroscopic blind-flying instruments, which enabled flight even in low visibility conditions. At the same time, radio navigation and approach systems help pilots land safety even during low visibility. These instruments later developed to include radar technology in combination with radio. De-icing and anti-icing systems were also implemented in order to minimize the dangers of ace accretion. Weather radars were implemented in order to serve as a warning of poor weather conditions, and autopilots were implemented to automatically maintain the flight course and altitude of the craft..
Electronic and technological advances have also served airline safety well during the late twentieth century. In f1990, for example, an airliner was introduced with a new digital flight control system; the lack of necessity for a flight engineer on the deck was therefore eliminated, along with the cost involved as well as the danger of the human factor. Another new concept is…

However, the country recovered well and has improved its GDP considerably in the past decade.
The economic performance of Iceland has been good in recent years, with a growth in GDP over the past decade of 4% per annum, significantly bettering OECD growth over that period. Because of this, per capita GDP has recovered most of the ground lost in a preceding period of sluggish growth, making the country the fifth-wealthiest in the OECD on that benchmark:
Most of the rise in trend growth reflects productivity gains following the implementation of widespread structural reforms, which opened the economy and enhanced competition. Financial-market liberalization and privatization have unleashed entrepreneurial dynamism. Many companies have expanded abroad, and the country now plays a role that belies the small size of its economy. Labor markets have been increasingly opened to foreign participants, helping to reduce labor market tensions. ("Economic survey of Iceland 2006" para.…

In this regard, Getches (2004) emphasizes that, "ater supplies are finite and erratic. Rivers in the est range wildly in the amount of water they produce. Indeed, there is evidence that average supplies are becoming less reliable than in the past" (2).
Conclusion.
The research showed that chemical fertilizers represent a dual-edged sword for the sustainability of the world's population. On the one hand, their use has allowed farmers in industrialized nations and - increasingly - farmers in developing nations to achieve greater crop yield through more intensive agriculture processes. On the other hand, the continuing use of chemical fertilizers is threatening the world's finite water systems through a wide range of chemical interactions, many of which threaten human and animal life. hile many Americans are worried about the rising price of fuel, the research also made it clear that water is more valuable than oil and action needs to…

Experimental esearch and eport Writing
esearch has shown that organizational strategies aid in memorization tasks such as word recall. Several studies have shown the effectiveness of using organizational strategies such as hierarchical categorization in aiding in word recall. Our experiment, a partial replication of the study conducted by Bower et al. (1969), examined the impacts of hierarchical word lists on word recall. College students were presented with word lists that were arranged either randomly or in categories. The number of words correctly recalled was measured for each participant. While our results were not as definitive as Bower et al. (1969) study, they do yield implications for further research for additional age groups.

Tredegar Industries Analysis: Connecting With the Value Chain
Summary of the Case
Tredegar Industries has emerged as a conglomerate that has the potential to expand globally in the plastics, aluminum and vinyl, and energy segments they compete in today predominantly in the U.S. The case study indicates that they have also had extensive investments throughout technology early-venture funds including their Tredegar Investments. The intent of this fund is to invest in communications, IT and life sciences technologies. Molecumetrics Ltd. Is another acquisition that also adds to the conglomerate-based approach Tredegar is taking to growth. The case study indicates that profitability as measured by Net Income continues to increase, yet there is little progress in the more niche-based markets the company initially invests in yet sees only small to non-significant growth. The reset on strategies is a step in the right direction yet not enough, as the conglomerate still lacks a…

Judicial independence is vital to a healthy society. Agree or disagree and discuss with particular reference to the judiciary system in Australia.
I agree with this statement. The reason why is because history is full of examples showing how judicial independence improves the overall amounts of: transparency and personal freedoms in society. This is because, an independent judiciary is providing a way of giving ordinary citizens the ability have their issues addressed. Once this takes place, it means that the rule of law can begin to function effectively, due to the fact that everyone feels that they will be treated fairly by the court system.
In those nations where the judiciary is often run by the government itself, this means that the citizens have less personal freedom. The reason why is because, the close relationship between these branches will give one more dominance over the others. Once this takes place,…
