Much of what is known about the brain, and especially related to higher cognitive functioning, has been learned from studying patients with brain injuries or neurological disorders.

The following documentation is an investigation on how music affects the human brain, and how it triggers the development of certain behaviors. According to this context, a human's mental state is interconnected to music, and despite the situation, there are always positive results. Music is perceived as the healing power to which human physical and mental stress respond to.

Drug and substance abuse is one of the most serious dilemmas in the world today. One aspect of the issue is the growing number of teenage drug users and the increasing incidents of prescription drug abuse. According to the statistics of the National Institute on Drug Abuse prescription drugs misuse is far greater than the abuse of narcotics. Among teenagers alone, accepted cases of drug use increased from 27 to 30 percent in a year between 2001 and 2002. The actual number is also reported to have increased by one percent (The Evening Standard 2004) but prescription drug abuse is rated higher then narcotics abuse. As in 2010 prescription drugs intake stood at 2.4 million one third of which were users between 12 and 17 years of age (National Institute on Drug Abuse, n.d.).

Memory is basically a process through which all the relevant information is encoded, accumulated, and the recovered when needed. In first step we receive information from our surrounding, friends and family and we add it up in our memory. Here we start screening the relevant data. After that we store that relevant data or information for a certain period of time which is basically the second step. The last step is recovering or retrieval. This usually takes place when we need to use that particular information which is stored in our memory. We have to locate it and then we need to bring it in our consciousness. At times, these retrieval process failed since the information we are trying to recall was very old and was not of that much importance which can be stored for ages.
