While the quality of Internet phone calls is still not as good as that of dial-up long-distance telephone, more and more users are taking advantage of Internet telephony because it offers free phone calls (Mceal and Elliott, 2002). Internet telephony is straightforward and simple, requiring only an Internet hookup, headphones or speakers, and a microphone.

For online students, Internet telephony offers an opportunity for students to speak to others in their classroom, almost anywhere in the world. In addition, teacher and student communication can be improved by the opportunity to speak to one another to discuss any learning challenges or questions.

Hand-held and wireless technologies are perhaps one of the greatest developments when it comes to online learning (Mceal and Elliott, 2002). According to Fortune magazine, computers will eventually be outsold by phones and organizers that have all the capabilities of a computer and the wireless connections to back them up. Even….

Technology in Education
Assessing Three Emerging Technologies' Contribution to Learning

There are a myriad of new technologies emerging that have the potential to completely re-order and increase the level of learning effectiveness and performance of students. With so many new technologies emerging as diverse as mobile-based learning systems on smartphones to the ability to tailor online learning systems and complete networks, the opportunities for educators to innovate has never been more full of potential. What unifies the highest performing technologies in the area of learner involvement and performance are those that allow for students to define the pace, depth and repetition possible for a given subject. All of these technologies share a common characteristic of being able to align and support learner's specific goals and objectives, creating a highly effective educational scaffolding platform in the process (Najjar, 2008). The best technologies can be quickly tailored to each individual student's needs, while also….

Scenario

Senior leadership of a medical center has just recently reviewed the plan for changes to the center's facilities. However, the medical center found out that the associated risks related to the new and emerging technologies had not been addressed. Thus, the Hospital's Chief Operating Officer (COO) has given a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) two weeks to deliver a quick evaluation of the risks as well as the planned expansion of the areas that may pose potential technology problems.

Security Issue at the Medical Center

The main security issue at the Medical Center is the protection of patient's identity and keeping patient's data anonymous as much as possible. In the contemporary IT environment, protection of the emerging technologies has become a challenge for many organizations since sophisticated hackers could used different strategies to steal patient's information from the central database, which include Social Security Number (SSN), credit card numbers, bank….

Technologies
Change is largely inevitable. Experience has taught me that the world is in a constant state of change -- be it from a climatological, political, technological, or even economic perspective. In that regard, therefore, a paper that describes what the future might bring as far as emerging technologies are concerned is both relevant and timely.

To begin with, in addition to altering the way we access and store information, technology has also effectively changed the way we communicate with each other. Thanks to technology, communication has become cheaper and more convenient. However, the introduction of new technologies on this front is likely to have a negative impact on interpersonal communication and socialization. Already, applications like WhatsApp allow us to communicate and even interact with others without the need to meet them physically or even talk to them. Short text messages have effectively replaced voice or face-to-face chats. In the words….

Often companies who have highly configurable products or services, such as Dell or in the services businesses, insurance and healthcare companies, need to provide customers with the ability to customize products in real time to their needs. Product configurators today are being used in e-business systems in these industries to provide suppliers with advance visibility of customer demand while capturing orders accurately at the same time (Aurich, Wolf, Siener, Schweitzer, 2009). The quote-to-order process encompasses creating customized products and services while staying within the constraints of profitability for an enterprise (Sawik, 2011). Studies also indicate the greater the level of system integration in these process areas, the higher the level of eturn on Investment (OI) achieved by companies who commit to making their systems work with each other in real time (Das, 2011). The greater the accuracy and velocity of information in the build-to-order, configure-to-order and engineer-to-order workflows of….

Honeypot and Honeynet Emerging Technologies
In the present IT environment, individuals and businesses are becoming more dependent an open network that includes the Internet where business transactions, government services and commercial activities are realized. However, the use of open network has led to the development of new information security issues and cyber threats that are being utilized by the cyber criminals. Thus, a mistrust in computer network technologies and telecommunications can affect socio-economic of global enterprises, an increase in the complexity of network infrastructures and communication lead to an increased demand for a new approach to cybersecurity.

Essentially, the threats in the cyber security landscapes are continuously evolving. The reactive and traditional security measures are no more sufficient to protect cyber information infrastructures. Thus, honeypots are the new emerging technology tools focusing in the areas of network forensics and network security, which is effective in enhancing network security of an organization.….

advertisements and emerging technology studies are focusing on increasing attention on advertising to children, this has been an issue of concern for decades now (Nurses Association, 2001). One of the main issues of contention is whether to researchers should direct their communication towards children or whether they should communicate with their parents directly. In this regard, the study has focused on utilitarian and deontology theories in putting this issue into perspective.
Concerning young kids, it is reasonable to direct research efforts of snack foods, toys and games to their parents because parents are the main buyers of such products. Nevertheless, researchers are aware that better results can be achieved through directing research messages to children, partly because children do not have the capability to analyze research findings and the underlying messages critically. Similarly, children would want the products regardless of the research findings. While pressuring parents, kids substantially force their….

Technology
(a) Technology is "the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science" (Dictionary.com, 2014). 1)(b) High-technology is "scientific technology involving the production or use of advanced or sophisticated devices especially in the fields of electronics and computers" (Merriam-Webster, 2014). 1)(c) A can opener, an electric can opener, and a radio are all examples of technology. They involve mechanical parts and some simple electronics or electronics that have been in use for a substantial period of time, and are not considered advanced or sophisticated. A 3D printer, a drone, a satellite radio, and a 3D TV all rely upon advanced computer technology to work and would be examples of high technology because they would be unable to work without supporting advanced technology and, even….

(Comer, 2005, p. 358). Another student is selected to play the role of patient and will receive a script detailing what they will tell the nurse and the appropriate responses to a list of questions a nurse would ask. The remaining students in the class serve as a resource and may offer suggestions when asked by the four participants or when prompted by the instructor.
To prepare myself for the integration of role-playing simulations in a nursing education context, I would familiarize myself with patient role-playing scripts for a number of common treatment scenarios. This is important for when a student misdiagnoses a patient because the instructor is responsible for directing a patient response from the script in order to clue the student as to the missed symptom.

Next, I would tailor my lectures to prepare students for the patient care simulations. Many students who fail the simulations note that they….

Development of technology has also improved the management of global logistics by encouraging firms to implement the EP systems. The global logistics planning as well as execution processes are still behind mostly when it comes to logistic management and supply chain. Therefore, creating a web-based system (EP) will create interactions with people around the world when purchasing goods and services online. The system created will also help the firms in managing the global transportation carriers, rates and execution in an environment.

Technology has improved the management of global logistics by impacting on the supply chain processes. The customers are now digitally connected by allowing the firms to have their personal portals updated again and again with the tracking numbers put in place.

Technology has also contributed to transparency in a supply chain, improving the links in the firms' chain, a trend that should be replicated among al big logistics companies or companies….

Mobile phones are another major area of emerging technologies. Not just for phoning home anymore, mobile phones are becoming more and more robust, integrating full PDA functionality and even permitting streaming video content. Communications providers offer the biggest obstacles in seamless digital streaming, because of the confusing array of services and relatively poor download speeds. Finally, consumers are becoming increasingly sensitive to the possibility of identity theft. As technology becomes increasingly versatile, the potential for the usurpation of privacy rises too. The government has yet to step in decisively and will soon be forced to develop a new wave of consumer protection laws as well as creative laws protecting intellectual property.

The work of Edward M. Rizzo and Leslie a. Worsley entitled; "Emerging Technologies and the Internet Enable Today's E-Workforce" states that with the changes occurring in today's workforce "management requires a new way of thinking. The tools driving organizational effectiveness shave changed drastically in recent years in order to meet the needs of an ever-evolving workforce." (2001) a larger percent of the workforce is comprised of professional employees whom are "more mobile, and there is a growing dependence on temporary or contract employees to ensure adequate staffing levels." (Rizzo and Worsley, 2001) Rizzo and Worsley state that to this end more and more employers are depending on emergent technologies in facing staffing challenges including the Internet. While "traditional businesses have prevailed...the Internet….
