Improving the Administration and Collection Process for Government-Sponsored Student Loans
Introduction
Today, tens of thousands of young people are mortgaging part of their future with student loans in order to obtain a higher education. In some cases, these students do not receive the full disclosure concerning repayment terms, creating a long-term hardship. To determine the facts, this paper provides an overview of government student loans and how the different actors on the student loan side are involved with helping the student borrowers with loans need to be held to a certain standard. The problem that is occurring is that the student loan representatives are not revealing repayment options or answering questions when students call. Therefore, the purpose of this study is two-fold as follows: 1) to demonstrate that there is in fact a duty for these actors to provide full disclosure due to controlling legislation and 2) to identify potential outcomes in…
The choice to borrow money is never an easy one. Kyle needs to consider the loan as an investment in himself. A person like Kyle, who has a clear plan about his future and how he intends to build a career, has solid chances of being able to pay off the loan. It is people who are afraid to take financial risks that end up missing out on opportunities, neither achieving their dreams nor financial security. As long as Kyle applies for the right kind of loan, learning about his options and how to pay the loan back effectively, he will be making the right choice for himself, his career, and his family.
The Financial Calculators (2017) website shows that without a doubt, a student loan is a good investment because college graduates do earn more money on average than their counterparts with just a high school degree. In fact, Kyle…
Abstract
Student loan debt forgiveness has become an increasingly controversial hot-button topic in American higher education today. On one hand, the American system of higher education has grown increasingly expensive. More students have been forced to take out loans to support their education as a result. On the other hand, many people oppose debt forgiveness on financial and ethical grounds. This paper argues in favor of debt forgiveness on principle, and offers a practical solution about how to achieve it.
Student Loan Debt Forgiveness: An Argument in Favor
Student loan debt is crippling young—and many older—Americans. More people are in debt for their educations than at any time in the nation’s history. As a democracy, having an educated populace is considered necessary for government to function, so people are able to vote in an educated fashion. Our society is growing increasingly technologically complex, and greater and more specialized knowledge is needed for it…

student aid programs.
Student finance aid can be described as funds given to the student to make it easy for them to fix cost of education such as fee and tuition, room and board, supplies and books where the students are undertaking their education like in universities, colleges or private schools. The funds which is being given out to public educations by government in general is known as financial aid meaning that it is being given to particular students, Financial aid can also be referred to as scholarship, although scholarship has some other components like students loans and grants.Loans are finance that one lend and must be paid back with an intrest after a period of time.In the case of student loan the money will be taken back after graduating.Aid is the help one is given.

Demographic and student library use were logged over the course of a semester at a single Australian university. The findings raised some questions about the initial hypothesis -- of all students, both those whom remained at university and did not, very few actually took out a physical book from the library. There was a higher rate of student library usage by retained students, but that may partially have been due to the fact that once students dropped out, they no longer had access to (or a need to) use the library. What the authors found significant were "the significant differences found for use of library workstations and other electronic resources and retention early in the semester [which] may be the most useful results to emerge from the study" (Haddow & Joseph 2010: 240). There was little difference in terms of library use and retention between SES groups, although, "overall, the differences in library use between the SES groups were not statistically significant over the semester; however, PC logins at 1 April were significantly higher for students from low SES backgrounds than their colleagues from medium and high SES backgrounds" (Haddow & Joseph 2010: 240-241).
The study design and approach seems flawed from the beginning, given its emphasis on using the physical location of the library, which the authors admit is relatively outdated, given the number of students who access the library virtually, either at workstations or remotely, versus the relative paucity that use its physical resources. Even giving undue emphasis to the use of workstations as proof of student engagement with the library seems questionable and unwise, since less affluent students will invariably have a greater need to use the physical location of the library if they lack ready computer access. The most committed of the least affluent students, logic would dictate, would use the workstations; more affluent students would use home computers and less committed students would eschew the library entirely.
Instead of determining the correlation between retention and library usage, a more interesting question would be the correlation between effective library use and retention, an area which students from high SES backgrounds might have an advantage and explain their higher retention rates. The incoming class could have been given and Internet-administered quiz asking them such questions as how to use the online library catalogue; how to access an academic database; and their relative comfort level in conducting academic research. This would have allowed researchers to compare demographic characteristics with responses. At the end of the semester, the retention rates of the class vs. their scores on the initial quiz could be assessed to see if comfort and confidence in using the library gave an advantage to incoming students in terms of their overall freshman year career.

Student Social Identity Development
How and hy Students Develop a Social Identity
hat is meant by Student Development?
Author Nancy J. Evans notes that the phrase "Student Development" too often becomes simply a vague catchphrase that has little application to college students' lives and learning. Student Development embraces the psychosocial, cognitive-structural, and social identity of students in postsecondary settings (Evans, et al., 2009).
In the quest for self-direction, students universally seek a social identity as well as an education that can propel them into meaningful, successful careers.

Clearly college and university students already have an identity when they enroll in classes, although their more mature individual identity in the social milieu will evolve with time. This training session embraces the question of how and why a student's social identity develops. It offers insights…

Undocumented tudents Equity to in-tate Tuition:
Reducing The Barriers
There exist policy ambiguities and variations at federal, state, and institutional levels related to undocumented student access to and success in higher education and this has created problems for these students. This study investigated specific policies and procedures to provide the resources and capital to assist undocumented students as well as reviewed key elements of showing the correlation of these difficulties with ethnic identity in access and equity to higher education that would help eliminate student's frustration. The study also illustrated that there is no accountability system surrounding the success of undocumented student's postsecondary education divide significant structure. Three research questions guided the study; a) Without the fundamental requirements met how will undocumented students achieve their goal to attain a degree, and seek a rewarding career? b) Is it unjust to extradite an illegal alien who has been living a constructive life and…

Despite increased student fees, the UC still encountered a $500 million shortfall or $2,500 per student. It has been undergoing severe pressure from the impact of the cuts. The quality of education at the U.S. has remained high, but there have been disturbing signs of erosion, nevertheless. The widening gap between the UC and the best private university has been alarming because the UC competes for the top teachers and students with these private universities. This widening gap should be a critical concern to the state and the federal governments because even excellent private universities are too small to meet California's or the nation's needs for a well-educated workforce in the future, to come up with innovations needed to fuel the economy and to generate jobs, and to introduce medical advances for the use and care of the sick and disabled. In the past decade, California's private research universities,…

The thesis statement was made clearer by the author because the main points of writing were structured very well. Before the author was structured with the ideas, it was a rough draft and it shows that they took the time polish the paper up. Along with that, instead of using direct quotes, the author paraphrased to convey their ideas better. For example, if the author wrote any paragraph at first, leaving as a direct quote, it can make the essay choppy.
By paraphrasing these ideas about student loans, the author was able to set the tone better to make more personal between the author and myself, which made the paper flow much smoother than before. After reviewing this paper, I felt the changes were important to make the essay flow easier so that it could be more clear to the reader. In this process, I can see where the author used…
Identify two new pieces of financial information that you learned about this week that will help you make informed financial decisions about your future and eventual retirement.
Personal financial management and financial planning can be daunting. It helps to learn more about the tools people can use to plan their savings and budget for the future. One of the things I learned this week that will help me make informed financial decisions is how to be a responsible borrower. For one, I never considered credit cards as being a form of lending. Essentially, people who forget that credit cards entail borrowing money from a bank can get into a lot of trouble with debt accumulation. Next, taking out loans can be tricky. Student loans tend to have reasonable interest rates, but any amount of interest is still going to add up over time. The less the loan principal, the less the…

In this article, Appelrouth and Zabrucky write for an audience of both educators and students. The purpose of the article is to show how preparation and personal qualities help students to score well on the SAT. It compares favorably to the study by Park and Becks (2015), which also focuses on who benefits from SAT prep. The study here shows that students have to hold themselves accountable and the teachers have to facilitate that process by working with them so that they know what aspects to focus on in order to succeed in the taking of the SAT. This work highlights the idea that the SAT can be successfully taken. It supports the work of this bibliographic topic by showing that individual differences and test preparation have to be considered by teachers if…

These two online field trips are especially important because each is part of the United States Department of Education: the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the Transforming Teaching and Learning site. I appreciate the insight into how educators make tremendous personal sacrifices beliving in the value of their work in promoting higher quality of life in the society. For example, the author states, “The thoughts of spending $70,000-$100,000 for an education to receive a job in which you make $40,000 a year seems like a losing proposition for many would be education majors.” In spite of the horrendous statistics related to actual job or career outcomes, the field of education proves tremendously rewarding. For example, the Transforming Teaching and Learning site also includes information linked to leadership development among students. I agree that leadership development is crucial for young educators, but also for students in general.

As a result of these experiences and the facts that have come to light regarding ITT (enclosed in the Appendix), I am seeking a forgiveness on my federal loan based on current events that made me realize that what ITT did was a completely wrong to not only myself but to countless other people.
While I understand that my satisfaction of the school is not a foundation for the fraud, however, the promise that ITT gave me regarding cost, job, value and experience of my education is what is fraudulent. They created an expectation of job security and financial future that was guaranteed as…

college campus across the country, students are greeted with the familiar sight of individuals seated at folding tables, with the purpose of marketing credit cards to them. These salespeople are most frequently seen during the beginning of the college semester and are usually young and attractive and smiling, barely older than the students themselves. However, this familiar sight is one of the many reasons that college students are becoming more and more deeply ensnared in debt. These smiling individuals prey upon students when they are at their most vulnerable. Most of these students have just had to pay hundreds of dollars for…

Students Having a Difficult Time
hy are students having a difficult time graduating in 4 years?

Students need a full four-year period to graduate, and in this span of their life, which means 18-22-year age, they have to face assorted problems, which can be financial, parental stress, the courses being covered themselves and pressure from other ends.
This research paper, discusses the problems which are most commonly faced by many students because of the speedy nature of a four-year graduation program. It thoroughly discusses all aspects starting with the…

high school students are receiving poor education as regards financial literacy (e.g. NAEP, 1979). Mandell (1997), for instance, reports that high school students have an average score of 57% in terms of money management, savings and investment, spending and other areas of income. HS graduates, in other words, have weak financial literacy. Adults also, generally, are almost totally illiterate regarding retirement and investment decision-making. A study of 552 adult females found that 56% were ignorant about the fundamentals of investing (Chen & Volpe, 1998).
A further study found that most Americans fail to save for retirement or fail to save for emergencies possessing a false confidence about financial security of their future (ibid.). About 71% of all workers and 81% of retirees in the study scored 60% or less in knowledge of financial matters. In their same review, Chen and Volpe (1998) showed that the Institute of Certified Financial Planners…

Comparison between different types of business
Business sizes
Businesses are usually divided into different classes depending on either the number of employees a business has or the total worth of its assets. Different businesses fall under the following category: Small, medium or large enterprise. These businesses have different number of employees, and this is what differentiates between the different types of business. Small businesses have around 5-50 employees, medium size businesses have about 50-250 employees and large business have about 250 employees or more.
Opportunities for Small businesses
Small businesses are businesses that are usually privately owned and can also be owned through partnership. It is operated by the owners and has a small number of employees. The government has also put in place preference…

Pedagogic Model for Teaching of Technology to Special Education Students
Almost thirty years ago, the American federal government passed an act mandating the availability of a free and appropriate public education for all handicapped children. In 1990, this act was updated and reformed as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, which itself was reformed in 1997. At each step, the goal was to make education more equitable and more accessible to those with special educational needs. During the last presidential term, the "No Child Left Behind" Act attempted to assure that individuals with disabilities were increasingly mainstreamed and assured of high educational results. All of these legislative mandates were aimed at insuring that children with disabilities were not defrauded of the public education which has become the birthright of all American children. The latest reforms to IDEA, for example, provided sweeping reforms which not only expanded the classification of special needs…
Internet: Privacy for High School Students
An Analysis of Privacy Issues and High School Students in the United States Today
In the Age of Information, the issue of invasion of privacy continues to dominate the headlines. More and more people, it seems, are becoming victims of identity theft, one of the major forms of privacy invasion, and personal information on just about everyone in the world is available at the click of a mouse. In this environment, can anyone, especially high school students, reasonably expect to have any degree of privacy? High school students, after all, are not protected by many of the same constitutional guarantees as adults, but their needs for privacy may be as great, or greater, than their adult counterparts. To determine what measure of privacy, if any, high schools students can expect at home and school today, this paper provides an overview of the issue of privacy, followed…

Profit Colleges
"hy do you think they are called for-profit colleges:"
The big business of (not) educating students 'You need a college degree.' This is the conventional wisdom articulated in today's society, where job prospects remain scarce, despite the softening economy. On average, "unemployment is still far lower for the college-educated than for high school graduates (10%) and those without high school diplomas (15.7%)," and the most severe effects of the recession were felt in the manufacturing and construction sectors, typically the areas of the economy which offer the brightest prospects to non-college degree holders (Davidson 2010). orries about one's viability in the job market have driven many workers to seek out higher education in nontraditional formats. Few adults have the ability to afford a traditional four-year school and balance the needs of home and work. Online, for-profit colleges or nighttime schools may seem the ideal solution. On the surface, it…

To some, that suggests that college is a more viable alternative for many of those who would otherwise have sought jobs in the manufacturing sector previously.
However, there are at least two reasons that such a conclusion may be invalid. First, while many manufacturing jobs have disappeared, many other types of technical jobs opportunities have emerged from numerous new technologies (Klein, 2012). Many of them require vocational degrees and certifications but no college degrees. For many people without specific interests in vocational applications of any college degrees being considered, training programs for these types of jobs is much less expensive, quicker, and more likely to lead to satisfying employment options than a college diploma in a random academic area or one of great intellectual value but few employment prospects outside of academia (Klein, 2012).
Second, vocational training, in general, has changed significantly in the last several decades. Specifically, whereas vocational education…

Federal Government's Impact on the Rise of Student Loans
On the surface, student loans seem like such a beneficial and risk-free government program that there appears to be no reason to object to them. After all, the purpose of federally subsidized student loans is to give students who might not otherwise have a chance to get a post- high school education the chance to get that education. College degrees, vocational certificates, and graduate degrees all expand a person's earning potential, and, theoretically increase the likelihood that the person will elevate, not only his or her own financial status, but also the status of his immediate family. Therefore, the federal government subsidizing student loans seems like an efficient and responsible use of government money. However, further investigation suggests that student loans may simply be a way of shifting a tax burden into groups that are basically tax-immune. Therefore, the appropriate policy…

Informative essay: The impact of the economic crisis upon young people
Although the consensus amongst economists is that the United States has extricated itself from the worst of the recession of 2008, the impact of the economic crisis is still palpable amongst many demographics within the United States. Recent college graduates are amongst the hardest-hit. Given the sluggish labor market, many new college graduates are struggling for work, while the previous generation was able to find jobs with much greater ease. These workers are burdened by high levels…

However, some people might regard my decision as unwise: after all, what 'goes up, must come down,' and interest rates will inevitably go up. I may regret not borrowing now, if I have to pay a higher rate on a car payment in the future. On the other hand, given that the low interest rates and economic stimulus have not has a seismic effect on job growth, I am still wary about spending too much, despite the fact that money in a savings account with a low interest rate is actually 'losing' value, because of the inevitability of inflation. My uncertainty about borrowing for anything other than what I absolutely need (other than student loans, which is 'spending' that does not directly result in higher levels of production in enterprise and takes me out of the full-time labor force) means that the government must find more direct ways to stimulate…
Education on managing or eliminating debt early in one's professional life should also be combined with realistic education on the state of the economy and the impact which this has levied on personal opportunities for financial comfort. To this point, individuals are not finding the jobs for which their education has qualified them, are not achieving a pay commensurate to what they anticipate are their living requirements and are unable to afford many of the fundamental instruments to healthy and intelligent living. Indeed, one source denotes that "in 2007, the Census Bureau estimated that there were nearly 8 million uninsured young adults (ages 18-24), making them the largest segment of the uninsured population. That problem is likely to be compounded with the rise in unemployment and lack of new jobs resulting from the current economic recession." (E-Health Insurance, 1)
Because such matters should be considered a significant priority, the budgetary focus…

My student loan payments of $609.07 are scheduled to begin May 1, 2009. I do not have the resources to make these payments and Chapter 7 Bankruptcy does not affect student loans.
Since I have been stretched beyond my financial capacity, I am now consistently behind in my mortgage payments and am not in a situation to rectify this problem. I am paid on the 15th and 30th of each month and because I am so overextended, I can only make my payment on the 30th of each month. Due to my now chronically late payments, I am now subject to $136.44 in late fees every month, which I can ill afford. I am facing eminent foreclosure if I am unable to change the terms of my mortgage.

At present I am pursuing a PhD in organizational development and leadership with a specific concentration in social media and technology. I have chosen to pursue this degree because I believe in the future there will be an even greater need for organizations to respond to the needs of a diverse workforce and customers in a culturally-sensitive manner. As someone who is of Haitian heritage, I have always been acutely aware on a personal level of the need for responsiveness to an individual's ethnic and racial background. Many people have misconceptions about Haiti because they know the country only through the images they have been presented with on the news. They think of it as a land solely characterized by poverty and turmoil and…

Company: Pinnacle Professional College
Pinnacle Professional College is a for-profit institution that offers technologically-related continuing education courses, professional certification, and degrees primarily in technical fields such as dental hygiene, diagnostic sonography, and radiology. For-profit institutions have come under increasing scrutiny by the federal government for taking student's money, causing them to go into debt, and giving them with degrees of little value. To set the school apart from such unethical institutions, Pinnacle must show that that students move on to gainful employment that they would not otherwise have been able to obtain without attending Pinnacle. Pinnacle also has an ethical responsibility to ensure that students to not accrue more debt than they can conceivably pay off in a reasonable period of time. According to one NYU professor…

Another general false conception is that "colleges are increasing need-based scholarships as opposed to merit-based scholarships... (however,) the College Board's annual report shows that at the state level, the percentage of merit-based grant aid increased from 10% of all aid during the 1993-1994 academic year to 26% of all aid in 2003-2004." These and other misperceptions, perhaps contribute to the fact most Americans don't pressure legislators to insure college access funding becomes more of a priority. (Chitty, 2006) "Ultimately, if America is going to continue to lead in the global economy, an infusion of public funds into higher education is essential," William Kirwan, chancellor of the University System of Maryland, insists. Discuss the asymmetric informational problem that arises in the case of hourly loan officers issuing loans. Propose at least two proposals to minimize these concerns.
One of the primary reasons that so many home loans were issued in recent years to individuals who were not sufficiently creditworthy to be able to make timely payments on those loans is that there was an ongoing condition of asymmetric information. The individuals seeking the loans had much more information than the loan officers; in many cases they knew that they could not reasonably meet the conditions of the loan.
The hourly loan officers in many cases could probably have been able to determine that the individual was unlikely to be able to service the loan. However, these hourly loan officers were being rewarded for making loans and they had no real personal investment in whether or not the loan conditions were honored. They were…
4. There has been much discussion about grade inflation at schools and universities. Discuss and display graphically the impact of grade inflation and the loosening of educational standards. Make sure to discuss how this will affect the ability of education to be used as a signal of worker quality.
One of the reasons that many individuals are focused on getting the best possible education for themselves is that they believe it will lead to a better job for them -- not just because they will have better skills and increased knowledge but also because a sparkling transcript will impress potential employers and give them a leg up in the employment process.
This is a reasonable assumption on the part of students and future employees. However, an essential part of this assumption is that there is a stable and predictable relationship between a student's efforts and abilities and the grades that that individual receives. Both the stability and predictability of this relationship are being deteriorated by grade inflation, in which students have to work less hard and demonstrate lower skills to get the same grades that more talented students once got. The following graph ( http://gradeinflation.com/ ) demonstrates how badly grades and scholastic accomplishment have become unhinged:
The report also identified some important aspects that determined successful completion of higher education. It was found that among both borrowers and non-borrowers, working part-time or fulltime and/or delayed entry into college carried a significantly high risk for dropping out. The fact that almost all of the students who successfully completed higher education were enrolled in college right after high school, attended fulltime and did not work part time or full time implied that external distractions had a major negative impact on successful completion. Since borrowers are under financial burden they are more prone to take up part time jobs and therefore carry a greater risk for dropping out. Essentially, one of the main findings and recommendations of this report is to "Make college more affordable so as to reduce dependence on loan financing and student employment, especially for those with the greatest need." [Lawrence Gladiex, pg 16]

resist in the city?
To parallel the 'Occupy' movement and others of its ilk with the Arab Spring may seem strange, given that the Arab protestors were resisting a bloodthirsty dictator, while the 'Occupy' movement was more concerned with economic issues such as student loan debt and outrage over the 'bailout' of the Wall Street banks. However, although the lives of young people are not necessarily on the line, their livelihoods and futures are -- to be crippled with student loan debt at a young age can mean that one's credit score, job prospects, and even ability to raise a family in a home is endangered. This is why organizers are creating a 10-day teach-in in Union Square in the spirit of the 'Occupy' movement to raise awareness about the high cost of tuition. The event is called the 10 DAY NO MORE TUITION INCREASE PROTEST PLAN organized by Students…

Access and Equity of Higher Education by the Population
Policy Analysis Memo Draft Format guidelines
Equity in higher education is a serious concern as the cost of tuition continues to increase. The cost of college tuition has increased by over 150% in the last three decades. Current financial pressure on students leads them to using student loans as a method to pay for college tuition or other strategies such as opting for two-year degrees. Higher education institutions are also facing the same economic pressure and feel forced to increase tuition fees leading to a vicious cycle of tuition fee increase. Looking at the expenditure of higher education institutions, the largest increase in expenditure over the same 30-year period has been in labor costs. The administrative costs per student enrolled has increased considerably (Ladd & Fiske, 2012). The current situation in higher education means the tuition fees are unsustainable and there need…

Consumer Borrowing -- Spending an Economy Out of a Recession
The 'answer' provided by consumer borrowing and spending during recessions and even depressions revolves around the classical, microeconomics 'answer' to what seems like an economics paradox. Namely, how does one stimulate the economy into a state of recovery, when one is faced with consumers who have less money to spend on basic goods? Consumers who may be unemployed are understandably cautions about their economic future, so how does one 'give' them money to spend and encourage producers to produce.
Neo-classical or naturalistic theories of economics have tended to stress the need for the Federal Reserve Bank to lower the interest rate. This makes it cheaper for consumers to borrow money from banks, less punitive for consumers to use their credit cards to make purchases with money they do not have at the moment, and it also gives consumers an incentive to purchase…
The report also shows that some changes must be made in order to make student financial assistance more affordable, by reducing loan interest rates for example.
Denis Herard also stated for the Edmonton Journal reporters: "We're on track to implementing the new tuition fee policy that will be in place and working for the students in the fall of 2007."
However, the new policy must be approved by the cabinet and other levels of government. Last year, premier alph Klein unveiled a tuition freeze as a "centennial gift" and promised to come up with the most "affordable" tuition policy in Canada.
These recommendations simply reinforce the status quo," said David Cournoyer, chairman of the Council of Alberta University Students and a vice-president of the University of Alberta Students' Union, about the proposals and recommendations in the steering committee's report.
Both the Advanced Education Minister, Denis Herard, and the Premier, alph Klein, have faced…

There are also up front insurance premiums for this type of loan, which I am aware of.
If you would please consider one of these two options, I believe we can come up with a mutually satisfying solution to help avoid foreclosure on my home. The main purpose of this research study is to understand the psychology of decision-making and management of households with respect to Arab students living abroad. The study will take into consideration the impact of the difference in culture and also the influence of such culture in dealing with bank interest. The research model used in this study is the addition of a moderating variable. The data will be collected through questionnaires that will be designed, piloted, and distributed to the target population. Questionnaires will be designed in a way that can manage to gather accurate information on the aspects of psychology, financial decision-making and management of households. It is expected that the construction of accounts subsequent to considering the ambiguous expense, classification of expenses into different categories and psychology of belief in Islamic law, have a positive relationship with the level of spending and financial decision-making. Secondly, classification of expenses…

American Higher Education
Higher Education is ading in Deep ater in 2014
Is there anything to celebrate about higher education in the 21st century? hat are the most troubling issues facing America's campuses that have emerged in particular over the past twenty years? These questions cry out for thoughtful, scholarly answers. On the one hand, there are crises related to university finances, student financial programs are bogged down by endless congressional haggling, federal financial backing for important research and development has withered away to a significant extent, and scholarships and grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have not been able to meet the demand of qualified scholars (Thelin, 2013). On the other hand, according to the Knight Foundation Commission, many university presidents (if not most) are admitting that they no longer have control of their NCAA-governed athletics programs, and moreover, deans in medical schools are being urged to begin training…

I have had to take a 15% cut in pay in order to continue working and, while I have continued to make the mortgage payments with my reduced income, other areas of my life have suffered from the scaling down of available monies. I have incurred expenses which have increased my debts, such as rising interest rates and penalties, emergency medical expenses and still have student loans to pay for, as I seek to improve my lot. As a result, my credit score has decreased from 740 to 501. Exacerbating the financial problems I am facing, I have just discovered that the property which is mortgaged is worth 5-10% less than the amount paid for it, which would make it difficult to refinance. However, I wish to point out that I have continued to make my payments in spite of my troubles, and therefore deserve the benefit of your…

Therefore, its important that every individual takes step to maintain a good credit history.
How to build a good credit history
Once the importance of credit is understood, the next step is to take measures to build or maintain a good credit score and history. It is not rocket science to have a good credit history. Some amount of restraint and basic financial discipline is all that is required to get a clean credit history.
For starters, one should learn to live within his or her means. Impulse shopping should be avoided at any cost. A better way to buy products is to plan and save for them. This can get the buyer out of credit troubles because the real pinch of money will be realized only when the dues have to be paid. It is also equally important to have good financial planning and disciplined living. All bills have to be…

Diversity Issues in Higher Education and the University of Vermont
How does this school present its interests in " diversity"(college's mission statement, diversity statement, website)
The University of Vermont takes great pride in the diversity of its student population. The school courts students from throughout both the United States and the international community, creating an atmosphere in which all races, religions, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations and genders are made to feel welcomed and embraced. According to UVM's informational website, the school has been engaged in an array of diversity improvement programs that speak to the school's commitment to creating a multicultural community. UVM reports that the school is engaged in five separate "presidential commissions" which are focuses on better understanding diversity issues and improving the university's response to these issues. The mainstream curriculum also requires students to engage in 6 mandatory credits relating to diversity issues in education. (UVM1, 1) Beyond…

Many of these students will eventually graduate after they manage to get their lives together, just as most of the medieval students managed to gain certificates of learning from their professors.
While many students had trouble with motivation, many others did not. Many of today's students are highly motivated and sure of their future, and so were many medieval students. A majority of the records that exist about medieval student life are from the students themselves, in the form of poetry, manuals, and letters (Haskins 66), and many of these were the top students of their time. Often, the students requested money in their letters, with books and lodging being the main costs for many students. Many other letters indicate that just as today, many students are loath to leave the university environment, and continue in their studies, become "perpetual students." Haskins continues, "Such youths were slow to quit academic…

hen deciding between two schools, he or she might chose the school that offered the professional degree in nursing, even if it was more expensive, because it maximized the utility and desired aim of his or her education. 'A nurse is sure to get a job upon graduation,' the student might rationalize.
Some students take into consideration less academic considerations when maximizing the utility of their college education. The ability to live at home and to save money might be a factor, or the ability to move to a desirable area of the country. Staying with a group of high school friends or following a high school boyfriend might be a (misguided) priority of some students. Economic decision-making, after all, is not always purely rational.
There are also certain constraints on utility maximization. Some students, even if they get into their first choice university, may not be able to attend because…

Reducing Turnover in New Graduate Residence Program
Introduction- The process of recruiting and training, particularly in high-impact fields like healthcare, has become increasingly complex and expensive. Turnover is the rate at which an organization gains or loses employees. High turnover means that more employees are leaving more rapidly, which can be harmful to productivity and finances. Real costs of hiring including recruitment time, opportunity costs, and investment in both the new employee and the staff in Human Resources. Indirect costs include training, loss of production, reduction of performance levels, overtime due to inexperience, etc. In fact, this issue is so important that in for-profit organizations, the cost of employee turnover is estimated to be about 150% of the total payroll and benefit package (Rothwell, 2012). One needs to also understand the high costs of post-employment; drug-screening, physical exams, orientation, learning curve, coaching from others, etc. Staff time is difficult to calculate,…

Education
Over the last few decades there has been an increase in the number of students that express a desire to attend collage (Haralambos and Holborn, 2010). In the U.S. 88% of high school students in the eighth grade said they wanted to go on to higher education, and approximately 70% did go on to college within a period of two years following her graduation (Venezia et al., 2013). The increase in demand and attendance maybe argued is unsurprising, given the wealth of literature which extols the virtues of a college education. Higher education is associated with a range of positive outcomes, including the potential for a higher income and the high level of affluence associated with a higher income, as well as being seen as generally socially advantageous. It has been argued that a four-year college degree has become the new "Holy Grail in American life" (Sawhill, 2013). However, while…

old, living away from home for the first time in an apartment in San Diego when I decided to attend college and maintain myself in an apartment without taking any financial assistance from my parents. Since I was not a California resident I had the additional expense of paying out-of-state tuition. I had a football scholarship that would pay fifty-percent of my tuition but I needed a job to pay my living expenses and the remaining tuition.
Although the time required for school and football was a fulltime job in itself, my financial needs said I needed to work between thirty and thirty five hours per week to make ends meet. With that as my motivation, I took a job at Federal Express as a package handler on the graveyard shift.
The summer before starting my sophomore year of college, just two weeks before the beginning of football camp in August,…
Using my newfound knowledge I spent three months doing intensive rehab in the swimming pool and in lifting soup cans for weights. At the end of that time, I gained enough use of my arm to be able to work in a restaurant. Meanwhile I continued my rehabilitation for an additional eight months.
During that time of rehab and unemployment, I resided in the comfort of my 1966 VW Bug. I lived off my savings, ate canned goods, and showered at the pool after two workouts a day. Living in my VW Bug for eleven weeks and two days was an experience that will shape my life forever. It taught me the importance of resilience, humility, diligence, and the power of optimism. I know now that life gives us many obstacles we do not expect or want, but it is not what is dealt to us that is important. It is how we deal with what we are given.
I learned how to handle many obstacles at the same time and perform all to the best of my ability. I found I can handle and even appreciate adversity at different times, and sometimes at the same time, while maintaining the tenacity and vision to accomplish daily responsibilities and pursue future goals. Having learned those things will serve me well in a career with the FAA.
The founders state that they want to create a community, but the question remains open as to what type of community. The Club could target a specific population of young people, like college students. Yet in the absence of a very large nearby college or youth-dominated district nearby, differentiation seems to be a questionable policy given that too narrow a focus might alienate all but one or two narrow sections of the youth market.
Operational effectiveness is a difficult strategy for any restaurant or bar to pursue, given that these venues operate on economies of scale, and often need to run 'in the red' for some time before they establish a core customer base. A customer orientation strategy is also difficult, given that the experience of going to a club cannot be customized for each and every club-goer. Thus, given that its target prices are already low, pricing Club IT…
The Foundation called specific attention to the prospect of institutional and policy-level strategies to increase the participation of under-represented minorities in the health professions. In response, the Institute Committee on Institutional and Policy-Level Strategies for Increasing the Diversity of the U.S. Healthcare Workforce came out with a report, entitled "In the Nation's Compelling Interest: Ensuring Diversity in the Health Care Workforce." The Committee consisted mostly of academicians, two of whom represented the nursing profession.
In its report, the Committee recognized the importance of increasing racial diversity among health professionals in order to improve access to care, greater patient choice and satisfaction and better educational experiences for practitioners, among other benefits. It also recognized the lack of strategies in reducing institutional and policy-level barriers among health profession educational institutions or HPEIs. In response to the lack, the Committee recommended that health professions education make a clear stand and mission on the…

Alabama Nurse (2004). ANA Review: Institute of Medicine report on workforce diversity,
Unlike Baxendale, there were no special circumstances outside of the normal business considerations that would have required specific communication to the contractor as to the nature of potential losses to Jose arising from a completion delay. Ordinary knowledge would have been sufficient for the contractor to know that his delay would also delay the opening of the cafe. The lawyer advised Jose that Jose was liable to the contractor for the rest of the contracted price of the work the contractor performed minus the lost profits and other direct damages Jose could establish. Jose had no other damages, but his business records did show lost profits of $7,500. Jose agreed to let the lawyer contact the contractor and offer to settle the outstanding claim against Jose through a payment of 2,500 to the contractor, representing the balance of the contracting work minus Jose's lost profits.
Jose mentioned that business was…

Clinton Platform;
Clinton's platform is currently relying very heavily upon the idea of helping the middle class. Her campaign bus is currently touring Iowa with a slogan of "The Middle Class Express." She is actively seeking middle class support, and her platform is dominated by issues resolving to make those who currently feel invisible in the current administration. She is speaking to the idea that the rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer and the middle class is disappearing. The sentiment is a strongly held belief in middle America and the platform is strong, as it speaks to the current feeling of America.

An attitude of 'firm persuasion' means that we have a sense of mission in what we do; a mission that cannot be easily diverted or silenced. At his core, Morrie's firm persuasion was that he was a teacher. Even when facing tremendous physical challenges and obstacles, he continued to teach Mitch and others about the nature of his life. One way to figure out what our life's work is and to steel ourselves with 'firm persuasion' is to ask: what would I be doing if I had my choice, more than anything else in the world? Painting? Playing sports? Writing? Although not everyone can be a teacher, painter, professional athlete, or writer, we can all find ways to ensure that we are able to pursue our passions every day.
Having a 'firm persuasion' in doing what makes our life feel meaningful means being able to tolerate and rebound from setbacks. Every…
Over the next three and a half years they grew to over $140 billion" (Lewis 2009, p.1). "By 2006 the average Icelandic family was three times as wealthy as it had been in 2003, and virtually all of this new wealth was one way or another tied to the new investment-banking industry," while the real estate market, so vitally necessary to the lifestyle of most Icelanders, also expanded stratospherically. During the period from 2003-2008, "Icelanders amassed debts amounting to 850% of their GDP, compared with 350% in the U.S. (Lewis 2008, p.1).
Iceland's speculation was more feverish than the U.S. because of the relatively modest circumstances of most Icelanders before, which fueled even more enthusiastic spending with easy credit. Furthermore, the fishing industry had always encouraged speculation and borrowing in the face of an uncertain future -- recklessness was part of the culture, despite the age-old nature of this industry.…

Majority and Minority Governments
Is a Majority Government Better or Worse than a Minority Government for Canada?
The minorities of Canada function in a very different way than the minority governments of Europe and other countries (Cowdy 2008). The purpose of writing this paper is to find out if majority government is better or worse than a minority government of Canada. Before going in detail, it is important to know that in Canadian Parliamentary system, the party with the majority of the seats forms the majority government. However, when none of the party has majority seats than a minority government is formed by the party that wins half or less than half seats.
The majority government formed is obviously powerful and has ability to bring big changes. Contrary to this, a minority government works hard to maintain the confidence of the legislative assembly in order to stay in power and for securing a…
