Bullying The Objective Of This Work Is Research Paper

Bullying The objective of this work is to examine a problem that exists in the community and to answer the questions asking how long the problem has been going on and who is responsible for the creation of the problem. As well, this work will answer who suffers and how it affects the community as a whole.

Bullying behavior can be both physical and verbal and involves intimidation or threats. Bullying is generally characterized as aggression that causes harm that is intentional and repetitious and that results in an "imbalance of power between the bully and the victim." (Strohmeier, 2010) The American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry states that children who are victims of bullying "experience real suffering that can interfere with their social and emotional development, as well as their school performance." (2010) Bullying is a problem in all communities, schools, and neighborhoods and the area at focus in this study is no different from other areas throughout the United States and even worldwide. Individuals who bully often choose victims that are smaller and sometimes younger than themselves. Generally, the child who demonstrates bullying behavior has already experienced being on the receiving end of bullying. (AACAP, 2010)

I. How Long Has Bullying Been Going On and Who is to Blame?

Bullying has been occurring in the community at focus in this particular study for as many years as the community has been in existence just as it has been ongoing throughout the world since the dawn...

Insofar as attempting to place blame directly upon one individual, group, or culture, it is quite simply not possible to do so. Bullying, when allowed to continue in an ongoing manner in a community, school, or neighborhood, should be blamed on those in charge in which the bullying behavior is being perpetrated without an accounting demanded by those who are bullying others.
II. Who Suffers and How the Community is Affected as a Whole

Those who suffer from bullying behavior include children, adolescents, teenagers, the elderly, and almost anyone who is weaker than others in society. There are warning signs that parents should watch for in children, which are likely to manifest in the child who is experiencing bullying behavior directed at them. Included in the warning signs are the following: (1) The child disconnects from others and isolates themselves in their room; (2) the child develops physical problems such as stomachaches and headaches that serve to interfere with their life; (3) has the child's schoolwork suffered and does the child have trouble concentrating; (4) does the child have trouble falling or staying asleep? (5) Is the child listless, unenthusiastic, and disinterested in life? (Zeff, 2011)
