My personal favorite tool for analysis is the regression test. This allows the research to see in-depth and thorough relationships between multiple variables, as well as see how relationships would change if circumstances evolved. It is a type of private equity, but not all private equity can be considered venture capital. Venture capital only really acquires less than 50% to keep it a minority stake. Additionally, venture capital works only with equity, where private equity handles equity and debt. Venture capital is often used for funding businesses in new industries, such as technology and clean-tech businesses because these technologies are not as proven as businesses working to get private equity. Private equity is more geared towards funding more mature businesses with proven financial models.
