The preliminary analysis of the available models appropriate for the school's purposes indicated that the Frigidaire FRA126CT1 Window Air Conditioner was most suitable despite the extra cost because of its quiet operation feature as well as its superior antibacterial mesh filter which was considered important in the confined spaces of the modular classrooms.

Statement of Work. Based on the foregoing, a corresponding statement of work was developed as set forth in Table 3 below.

Statement of Work for Window Unit Air Conditioners

Provision

Description

Purpose

The purpose of this contract is to install five Frigidaire FRA126CT1 Window Air Conditioner units in a local high school's five modular housing classrooms.

Scope of Work

The scope of the contract extends to delivery, installation, and testing of the installed units to ensure appropriate operation as well as any ongoing maintenance that is required on the units...

The school district's purchasing department would be required to develop the costing analysis described above, and a school district engineer representative would be needed to oversee installation and ensure satisfactory operation of the installed Frigidaire FRA126CT1 Window Air Conditioner units. The remaining installation work would be performed by the vendor.
Facilities Equipment. None required.

4.

COST

Fiscal. The total purchase price for the five selected Frigidaire FRA126CT1 Window Air Conditioner units would be approximately $1,637.19 ($1,625 purchase price plus $12.19 state/local taxes at 7.25%).

Time. The preliminary analysis to develop relevant specifications and air conditioner units that would satisfy the school district's requirements will require approximately one-half day; the oversight of the installation by the vendor should likewise require about one-half day.

CONCLUSION

Summary. While the scientists continue to debate whether global warming is a reality, many young people continue to attend school during the summer months when temperatures can climb well past 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The need for air conditioned classrooms for these young learners is clear and this proposal describes a step-by-step approach for addressing this need.

Finalization. The finalization of the project would involve setting each of the air conditioners' controls to the appropriate temperature using the timer feature to shut off the units after scheduled classes and to turn them back on 30 minutes prior to their starting time.

Students in these kinds of schools do not attend school longer, but they do not have a summer break that is longer than any of the other breaks that they take during the school year. Standards and School Reform While standardized testing has been in use in U.S. education for decades, until recently, it was most often used for special purposes, such as college entrance: the SATs, and the GREs for graduate school and so on. IQ testing had been part of the educational landscape, also. However, it was only after 1983's government-backed report that found American children at educational risk that standards became the main
