Scotland is credited with being golf's country of origin but the sport has origins deep in European history (Kelley).

The primary reason for golf's continuing and burgeoning popularity is its positive effect on human beings: golf is both fun and relaxing, encouraging social interactions and improving overall health and well-being.

Golf can be played as informally or as formally as possible, making it a fun and relaxing endeavor.

Since players like Tiger Woods popularized the sport, golf has changed from being a game played only by country club members to one that anyone can enjoy.
