Homelessness In America Globalization Represents Term Paper

This attitude is responsible for the creation of a radical approach of the issue of homelessness. This included an ordinance which punishes homeless people. Thus, "due to urgency of the matter, (...) it (was) argued that this virus must be eliminated from the fabric of society and carriers of this virus must be prosecuted. Homeless were banned from sleeping under bridges, park benches or sidewalks" (How to eradicate homelessness, n.d.). Therefore, homeless people are being arrested for being found in certain areas of tourist interest, "for public urination, indecency and intoxication" (National Coalition for the Homeless, n.d.). However, research has pointed out the fact that there is discrimination between the treatment of homeless people and that of tourists who act in a similar manner (National Coalition for the Homeless, n.d.). This comes to point out the fact that even the applicability of the law is made subjectively and in the light of a certain perception the society has developed over the issue of homelessness.

On the other hand, the differentiation of the homeless people is often visible in the way in which they are perceived by those who could to a certain extent increase their possibilities of life. more precisely, there have been cases in which homeless people were disregarded for a particular position without taking into account its qualifications. This is a result of the way in which they are perceived by the society and the way in which they are treated by the state.

The strategy for dealing with homeless people should be adapted in order to cater precisely for this type of issues related to the general perception of the society and of the possible employers. Thus, currently, the government's approach concerning this issue focuses on providing, as mentioned before, temporary shelter. However, this fact does not improve the condition of the homeless and it fuels the general belief that homeless people are responsible for their state. However,...

Most importantly however, the attitude of the society, along with its preconceptions and misperceptions are the actual responsible for considering homelessness a social disease.
