Delegation is the process that facilitates the management processes and practices within the context of an organization. In the development of an organization, the manager should be able to provide effective communication methods to enhance interaction with the subordinate staffs. Delegation refers to the process of managing and coaching employees who possess the required level of competence to execute the responsibilities at hand. The coaching and management of the employees offers the needed empowerment to the officials thus developing skills to survive on their own. The employees would develop significant skills to tackle and execute obligations and duties in the absence of their managers and supervisors. In the contemporary world, organizations adopt numerous delegation and empowerment approaches to enhance the performance and productivity levels of the business entity. The empowerment and delegation approaches aim at enhancing the level of decision-making, adoption of effective decisions in relation to the local condition, and better management experiences resulting into promotions. Some of the recent delegation and empowerment practices include adoption of self-managed teams, power sharing through parallel structures, information sharing, employee stock ownership plan, and democratic decision processes.
Democratic Decision Processes
This delegation and empowerment approach allows employees to participate in the election and removal of leaders within the significant bodies making the decisions of the organizations. Employees also have the right to elect representatives within these crucial bodies within the organization. The aim of this approach is to enhance the level of empowerment within the firm thus increasing productivity and total revenues and profits at the end of the financial year. One formal program or policy to enhance sharing of information within the organization is the adoption of open-book management. The managers or supervisors open the books to the staff members in order to enhance clear understanding of the financial information such as revenues, profits, and costs of the production process (Daft, 2010).
Employee Stock Ownership Plan
Adoption of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan requires the company to develop trust and contribute money to the account (trust). The contributions by the company are tax-deductible. The company also contributes to trust in relation to the seniority and compensation levels of employees. Most employees in the contemporary world participate in such programs to enhance their empowerment in execution of the roles and obligations of the company. Employee Stock Ownership plan should focus on all the full-time employees. The employees must also possess real voice in relation to the management of the organization in order to facilitate effective empowerment. This can take the form of educating employees on how to define the financial information of the organization. The training of employees in relation to the information of the company depends on the owner-awareness programs (Hardina, 2006).
Another approach to enhance the empowerment of the organization is the implementation of self-managed teams within the performance of the company. Adoption of the self-managed teams indicates that the company must implement structural change in the organization rather than the parallel structures. Most organizations in the contemporary world implement this strategy within their settings to facilitate empowerment of employees thus enhancing the performance levels of the staff members. Members of the team meet frequently to decide on how to allocate tasks among each employee hence making decisions on crucial roles to execute within the organization. The team selects its leader to facilitate the achievement of goals and objectives. The leader offers crucial guidance to the team in order to promote its awareness on the tasks at hand concerning the achievement of goals and objectives of the company (Hardina, 2006).
Power Sharing through Parallel Structures
The company can also achieve empowerment through adoption of power sharing programs with employees. This program indicates that the company delegate the decision making process downward within the organizational hierarchy. The company has the capacity to conduct problem-solving activities, and special meetings outside the routine work process thus the adoption of the term parallel structures. Some examples of the parallel structures within the context of the company include quality circles, survey feedback, quality-of-work-life groups, suggestion systems, and participation groups. To enhance the implementation of the power sharing through parallel structures, the employees have the obligation to provide inputs and effective recommendations. The company has the capacity to limit the extent of powers of the employees in relation to decision-making and implementation of the decisions. The parallel structures are cheap and easy to adopt concerning the empowerment of the employees (Daft, 2010).

This would allow the development of goals and objectives at the group levels. The self-managed groups can transform their objectives and goals to the organizational mission and vision. This facilitates the delegation of responsibilities to the employees thus allowing them to meet or exceed expectations and objectives. The other approach is the implementation of programs that allow employees to have access to crucial information in relation to different aspects of the organization. The access of information would allow employees to understand their roles and obligations effectively and efficiently. The employees would work towards execution of these objectives and goals thus meet or exceed expectations and targets in relation to the mission and vision of the company (Bennis & Townsend, 2005).
The company would also adopt the inclusion of representative in the decision-making entities. Employees should be free to elect their representatives thus enhancing their empowerment development. The representatives could allow managers to delegate roles and ob ligations to employees while experiencing maximum returns in relation to utilization of the available resources. The inclusion of employees in the decision-making process within the organization is crucial since employees are serious contributors and stakeholders in the development of the company. The company might also adopt the power sharing programs through parallel structures. Employees would contribute effectively and efficiently through the provision of input and recommendations. Recommendations would enable the company to meet or exceed its expectations in relation to mission and vision (Bennis & Townsend, 2005).
