A leader of integrity is well aware of the Army Values and how important they are in defining character traits that aid in the development of discipline and the ability to maintain that discipline (Army 1-50). These values breed integrity which in turn results in the type of discipline necessary for a soldier to recognize the right course of action and to continue that course, no matter the difficulty encountered (Army 1-50). For leaders, these qualities are even more important because soldiers follow their leaders' examples, thus a leader must demonstrate the values and integrity that encourage his soldiers to excel in every task they attempt and within every aspect of their lives (Army 1-50).

The epitome of integrity may be summed up in the phrase, "Bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, the Army, your unit and other soldiers"...

It is simply impossible to have a successful army without integrity, because integrity encompasses every quality and value of a properly trained army. Without integrity, a NCO cannot perform his duties properly, which means that he will not be able to command his troops to the degree that ensures the successful accomplishment of a task or mission, or be able to ensure the safety and survival of his troops. Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage are the sum of integrity.
