Semi-structured interviews might be useful to identify as-yet unknown health deficits, such as parents who are unaware how to obtain low-cost dental care for their children or themselves, or who are unaware of the ability to gain assistance for subsidized breakfasts. The use of such interviews would not only improve the health of students and families served by the school, but also improve academic performance, given that poor health is often linked to poor grades.
