There has always been discrimination against African-Americans in some form or another. Today, it is the general belief of many that all African-American youth belong gangs, which is much like the idea that all Italian-Americans are Mafia. Stereo-typing is common. In fact it could be considered normal, since everyone, no matter the color of their skin or ethnic background, is guilty of it. At one time, not too many decades ago, arranged marriages were common, today they are non-existent. The same is true of inter-racial marriages, today they are commonplace. Certainly, Yonkers could exercise more tolerance, but no more so than any other area of the country.
