Every year, overseas as well as local tourists plan their trips for Australia and have a great time enjoying the natural and artificial tourist's attractions. Australia has a wealth of assets that give it a competitive advantage over the other tourists' countries of the world. These include; natural places for tourism, exclusive landscapes, culture and heritage, urbanized cities and egalitarian society, which gives a comfortable & friendly environment to the visitors. However, having a competitive edge over others does not mean end of the game; therefore Australian government agencies are working hard to improve the product choice, service quality, place of tourism and is also doing extensive marketing so that more and more tourists can be entertained.

Existing Tourist Infrastructure

Infrastructure plays an important role in tourism development program. It highlights the needs and encourages investments by the private sector. Australia is developed with required infrastructure to fulfill the tourist's needs. Different steps are taken to promote tourism and make tours most facilitating for the tourists. One of the steps that helped tourism growth enhancement was the development of the modern aircraft that provided access to Perth and other regions. Availability of road access has also been a key infrastructure issue and is maintained well so that tourists can disperse beyond the major gateways.

Other infrastructure, such as restaurants, accommodations, built attractions and transport are also well developed and maintained so that tourists do not face any difficulties. Tourism Western Australia is cooperating and constantly working with the government agencies to improve and further develop the infrastructure projects in order increase the entertainment and comfort level of tourists.

The Role of National Tourism Organization

"Tourism Australia" is the national tourism organization of Australia. This organization takes the responsibility to promote and market the destinations and experience of Australia to overseas as well as local tourists. It works in close coordination with NSW (New South Wales) on the domestics and international campaigns. "New South Wales" is also a state tourism organization that works on the development of tourist's destination with in New South Wales.

"Tourism Australia" is a government organization and plays the following important roles

It encourages and motivates people to travel in different parts of Australia.

It helps to increase the economic benefits of Australia by increasing tourism in Australia.

It helps in cultivating and promoting a healthy tourism industry in Australia.

It works with the media for introducing new places and new campaigns with the intention of increasing the domestic and overseas visitors.

It supports the tourism industry and facilitates investments.

Australia being an egalitarian society welcomes local as well as overseas tourists and provides them a comfortable trip. It offers a variety of places and provides special facilities; that are established in the host areas only to satisfy tourist and promote tourism.

Recommendations

Tourism industry is facing a tough competition these days in all parts of the world. The consumers have become more demanding and not only require high quality products and services but are also concerned about the sustainability and social responsibility of the destinations. Therefore, Australia should focus on developing accessible tourism at its destinations and get competitiveness in the loyal market. This kind of tourism will create an interested involving vision of the destination and create a culture that shows social responsibility which is very much valued by the customers in the tourism industry.

The real-challenge for Australia is to develop more and more tourism products and services so that economic and social benefits can be achieved. Tourism always brings benefits as well as many costs; therefore, effective planning and business practices are required in the future as well for developing and maintaining tourism in Australia.
