Wellum's stream-of-consciousness when he is fighting is both funny and compelling: "I reckon I'm a little above, just a fraction, and therefore gaining. God, I hope so. Just because he's stupid enough to believe his bloody Fuhrer and his master-race-dominating-the-world crap, he flies for his wretched Fatherland and tries to impose typical Teutonic bullying on our country. The bloody arrogance of it! Well, you'll not shoot me down you black-crossed sod" (Wellum 154). As evidenced in this quote, Wellum showed coolness and patriotism when he is fighting. Although at times the book can get mired in technical details about aircraft warfare, it also shows the typical life of a British pilot during the...

Wellum's account underlines the ugliness of war, even when the soldiers are fighting a 'good' fight. By the time he was twenty, Wellum felt as worn out as an old man. Just like the film Hope and Glory illustrates the human toll of the war at home, Wellum's book shows the war's consequences on an individual level for the men who fought. The emotional effects of the war were not entirely bad: Wellum clearly believes that he grew tougher and braver as a result of his experiences in combat, even though he does not overlook the frequently tragic results of war: he was transformed from "a schoolboy to an RAF pilot and possibly a man"…

This is usually characterized by internal bleeding and the affected part grows numb and cold. The best first aid treatment for such is to immobilize the body and particularly the affected part especially in the absence of ice that can be placed over the closed wound as was Aron's case. The reason for immobilizing the part and the body is to reduce the internal bleeding. This is exactly what

First Aid Life is unpredictable, and emergency situations can arise at any time. First aid allows anyone to respond to a medical emergency with little or no formal training and no expensive equipment. The phrase "first aid" refers to the fact that even if the injuries are serious and do require expert medical attention, the initial intervention can "literally mean the difference between life and death," (BBC Health). Psychological First Aid (PFA) is a system that has been created to fill the newly perceived need of first responders and the way in which they meet the needs in turn experienced by victims in a disaster situation. Recently, officials recognized the need for a set of clear guidelines to help disaster personnel handle the stress and rigors of meeting the psychological and emotional needs of victims while also creating

All in all, frostbite is much easier to prevent than it is to cure. The old adage that an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure certainly holds true in this instance. Remembering to keep yourself covered up and monitoring the way your fingers and toes fell is the most important step in keeping yourself safe from frostbite. Simple awareness is usually the first step in preventing accidents

Aid to Dependent Corporations The government of United States is incurring heavy revenue loss on account of the corporate sector subsidies and other special rebates. The friendly policies of the government aimed at promoting a positive business climate are sadly being exploited. In their interests to evade tax, businesses today are taking undue advantage of the favorable federal policies. In this regard I feel that our governments tax policies and corporate

The issue of free speech and the ability of a group to exempt itself from the requirements of public education is at the heart of the issue of the question: can a group of religious fundamentalists petition the state to allow their children an exemption from school biology classes that, they believe, are contrary to their religious views (one would presuppose evolutionary theory?) First, an argument to exempt a child
