¶ … Admissions Department:
I am writing to express my interest in applying to your nursing department in pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. I have chosen nursing as a career after a long and thoughtful process, including observation at local hospitals and clinics, and speaking with others in the nursing profession. I believe that nursing is one of the noblest professions a person can enter, as nurses provide the ultimate in care and hope for ailing patients and their families. I also believe that there will continue to be a shortage of nursing jobs in the country as "baby boomers" grow older, and I believe that will make nursing a strong, secure, and well-paying profession that can sustain the long career that I anticipate.
I would like to pursue a baccalaureate in nursing because I believe this is the wave of the future for nursing preparation. In addition, I would like to someday pursue a Master's in nursing, and a baccalaureate would be necessary to achieve that goal. I also am not a fan of the two-year certificate programs offered by many junior colleges and other schools; I believe a baccalaureate is necessary for the best training and preparedness in this vital field.
I believe that I am a caring and empathetic person who can identify with the needs of others and help them when they need help, which is one of the reasons I am interested in the nursing field. I also am interested in research and development of new understanding of diseases and treatments. I am hoping that I could work in an area where I can work with patients and in clinical trials or other situations where I can learn more about these activities, as well, and that my interests and natural curiosity would aid me in these areas. I am also organized and efficient, qualities that I think are important for a good nurse.
I believe one of the biggest problems facing the world today is healthcare, and the lack of healthcare in developing nations. I believe as nurses, we have an obligation to work toward improving healthcare around the world, whether it is by research, volunteering, or serving with a global healthcare organization, and I believe that obtaining the best training possible by attending your school could help me toward helping these problems in the future.
Contributions to Student LearningI have been working in a K-12 environment for many years, and since then have contributed to student learning via curriculum development and leadership. Collaborating with other educators, I have been able to develop and motivate new educational talent. Student achievement measured via test scores and other quantitative outcomes have improved slowly but steadily over the past five years. The unique setting, context, and demographics of the
Always great within a social context, Anna was a breath of fresh air in the classroom, for both me and her fellow students. Never one to ignore discussions, Anna continually stood out in classroom conversations -- without putting her classmates down to do so. She truly exhibits a passion for learning and her craft. This energy and charisma is also illustrated in her writing. As a true devotee to her craft,
Introduction Factors related to hospitals and the patient population influence incidents of discharge Against Medical Advice, also known as AMA (Karimi et al., 2014). There is a high rate of discharges against the doctor’s advice after admission into emergency units. There is a need to probe the reasons behind such a trend (Shirani et al., 2010). It should be noted with concern that AMA is a healthcare institutions’ problem across the
Emergency Room Efficiency Improving Emergency Department Flow by Using a Provider in Triage Emergency room triage plays an essential role in the speed and quality of the emergency room departments. Triage represents only one small part of the process that determines quality of patient care. Emergency rooms can be crowded. Busy times are often unpredictable, making it difficult to avoid bottlenecks in the system. This has an affect on the amount of
College is a time of learning, change, and experience. For the first time, freshmen have the freedom to choose the subjects the study and even how they study them. But college is not solely an opportunity for book-learning - rather, college is social and intellectual hybrid of learning. The students who take advantage of their college's residential life option glean the most from their undergraduate experience - living on campus
Mississippi is fortunate in having men at its leadership who have vowed to prevent integration of our schools. The very sovereignty of our state is threatened'." Most whites in the state opposed Meredith's admission, and the Governor of the state vowed not to allow Meredith to enter the school, or segregate other schools. A reporter notes, "The following day Barnett spoke on the air, saying, 'No schools will be integrated
